Off to Manila

We will be leaving today to go to Manila for two and a half weeks. We are hoping to see the right doctor to find a solution for a chronic infection my husband has had in his upper jaw bone for about a year and a half, even after removing the teeth. We hope to see a good oral surgeon. Someone graciously offered to let us stay in their condo in the Makati area for free! What a blessing! I will give you all an update on our medical adventures. We would apprieciate your prayers.

  1. Hi AmericanLola - Good luck to you and your husband (not sure if he wants his name listed on the blog). I didn’t realize that he had been suffering from such an infection. I hope that everything works out for the best!

  2. Hi American Lola, I told you already in “my blog”: May your husband get well soon as possible. Please give us an update of all your medical adventures. Your are included in our prayers.

  3. There should be several competent oral surgeons or experienced general dentist in Davao that could treat your husband. Try contacting the UP-PGH hospital dentistry in Manila. Tthey have an exellent Oral surgery resindency program. They may be able to refer you to a competent Oral Surgeon.

  4. I hope your husband will find the right treatment I too have suffered jaw infection for about twenty years and have had numerous operations and treatment that has been painful and to a large extant useless.

However I found about two years ago whilst I was travelling into almost stopped and now a broad-antibiotic keeps it at bay about once every three to five months.

I would be very intrested if you could keep me advised as i may need to get help if it flares up again.

  5. Hello all - our prayers are with you American Lola, I hope Americanlolo will get the best care/treatment in Manila…

  6. Thank you all for your kind wishes and prayer! We are here in Manila and the condo is even nicer that we thought it would be!

We saw an oral surgeon yesterday who took his training ay USC Medical school. Very efficeint! Spent quite a bit of time with us, got xrays and a CT scan of the area, all before 1 PM! We see an ENT doctor tomorrow. Evidently there are two bone fragments in the sinus area from the botched surgery he had last year in CDO by an inexperienced ENT surgeon.

All quiet in Manila today as 3/4 of the population has gone to the provinces!

  7. Hi AmericanLola - How is your husband doing? Was he able to receive treatment for the condition while in Manila?

  8. Hi Ameican Lola, i hope to see your posts back on the blog soon and this will hopefully mean that your husbands medical treatments have been succesful. I wish you all the very best luck and best wishes
