Server upgrade complete
The other day I announced that we would be making an upgrade to our server. Well, I want to announce now that the server upgrade was just completed a few minutes ago. If you are reading this message, you are connected to our new server! The new server specs blow away the server that we have been on for about 9 months or so, and completely leave it in the dust. As soon as the upgrade was complete, I was doing some comparisons in load times between the new and old server, and the new server really out performs the old one!
So, I hope that you will see a decided increase in performance on all of our sites now that we’ve made the upgrade. If I have to upgrade again within the next few years, that’s going to mean that the site is continuing to grow quickly! And, that would be good news! Enjoy the new server speed!

I noticed the speed right away, Bob. Big improvement. BTW, were you using Pingdom’s full page speed tester to compare old and new server speeds?
Slow loading sites (blogs are sites too
) are not always caused by server speed or loading. Pingdom’s tool shows exactly what parts of the page are taking up the load time. Good explanation here:

It’s free to use, I recommend it, especially if someone is thinking of changing hosts. It’s especially good to run if you’re thinking of a new theme or new ad service on a blog … you may be rreally surprised how long some ad services and or MyBlogLog take to come on screen…
Hi Dave – I have used Pingdom’s tool before and it’s cool. For the comparisons today, I was just kind of doing it by eye – very unscientific! But, also looking at the server loads with a script that I use for monitoring my machine.
