German Octoberfest in Davao
Now it may seem strange but as a fellow European I have never yet experienced the fun of a German Oktoberfest , where busty ladies and men in shorts will dance around whilst the customers sing along to party music, dance badly and enjoy draught beer and food till the late into the night or morning.
So now having traveled 9000 miles and its amazing to know that I am now going to experience my very first Oktoberfest fest here in Feils seminar resort in Davao City on October 13th. I am even helping to arrange it and I am having to ask my German friends for good advise with regards to the food and music , to even what the live band will play.
We are even trying to make part of the resort into a German street along with bunting and Christmas lights to make it great for the kids to see, or if they get bored hey can use the swimming pool,,,,no BOOZE there.
What really amazes me is that the staff are so excited to do this, they are designing costumes and even trying to arrange entertainment sets and are telling all their friends to come too.
Now if you want to experience this event with expats and the locals and enjoy it as a family day from 3pm on SATURDAY OCTBER 13TH onwards and watch the merging of a German custom and the friendliness and pure magic of Philippine hospitality, if you are in the area come along, if you get a little too tired or too much beer we have rooms for you to stay over too.
Now if this seems like an advert , well it probably is as the owners of the resort are great personal friends and I want everyone to experience this great resort that has a view of the APO mountains that will take your breath away.

Hi John – are you saying that they will have busty ladies there? Sign me up!!!
This would be interesting to see in Davao, knowing how inhibited some Pinoys could be. Just wondering what kind of beer are you serving ? Ice cold San Mig might not cut it. Tall mugs of german beer, (room temperature) carried by broad shouldered Fraus five at a time. German bratwursts, wieners, those large salty pretzel. I was stationed in Germany in the USAF, Octoberfest was every month ! That was a shock for a former Dabawenyo.
Dont forget your oompah pah band with lederhosen and real drinking songs. Now growing up in Davao, I dont remember any real Pinoy drinking songs.
This sounds like fun, I hope Duterte lets you party on to the wee hours like a real Octoberfest ! Good luck and have fun. I guess a lechon will do instead of the brats.
sounds like fun , but i will miss out, i dont arrive in davao till dec….oh well
Hi John-I thought you might be interested in the history of Oktober Fest, it is not a German national festival but a Bavarian one and held in Munich.
Oktoberfest (German, October festival), one of the largest public festivals in the world celebrated in Munich, Germany, from the end of September to the first week of October. Lasting 16 days, the Oktoberfest dates from the wedding celebrations of the Bavarian crown prince Louis I and his new wife, Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen, in 1810—five days after the wedding itself, a horse race was held as a public festival for the Bavarian people, with accompanying carousels and beer stands. In October 1811 this event coincided with a triennial celebration of local agriculture. Although the tradition of horse racing has not survived, the beer stands and rides continue to be featured, and the agricultural festival is still held as part of the main Oktoberfest celebrations every three years.
Today the festival encompasses a wide range of activities: in addition to the numerous tents selling varieties of beer and regional dishes, visitors can enjoy rides, displays of traditional music and dance, and various parades. The popular Folklore procession dates from 1950, and features thousands of participants in traditional costumes. There is also an inaugural parade on the first morning, which includes all the tent proprietors and their families, the mayor (whose job it is to tap the first beer keg and start the celebrations), the governor of Bavaria, and all of the bands featured during the festivities. In the 2003 celebrations, the festival organizers estimated that there had been approximately 6.3 million visitors who had consumed around 6.1 million litres (nearly 11 million pints) of beer.
The San Mig brewery would love it if even half the German beer total was consumed during your event.
Prost.
Hey my husband just bought an octoberfest beer earlier at Costco. He said he hadn’t seen one since he visited Germany a long long time ago. He mentioned to me before the octoberfest in Germany. Sounds fun. Enjoy guys and have fun. Drink and Dance till you drop..
