Over the past few months, I have been thinking a lot about the writers we have on the site. I like each of the writers that are here, but there is a small problem. The site is too Davao-centric. After all, this is the “Live in the Philippines Web Magazine,” not the “Live in Davao Web Magazine.” It is something I would like to change a bit. No, I don’t want to get rid of any of the writers that we have now! They all add their own flavor to the site. But, what we need here is a few people from other parts of the country.
Let’s face it, the Philippines is a very regional place, and each region is quite diverse from the others. Things that are a fact in Davao are not necessarily the same in Cebu or Baguio. That is why I would really like to add some additional writers who are living in other parts of the country.
Do you live in the Philippines? Would you be interested in writing a column on this Web Magazine? If you think you might be interested, here are the things I am looking for:
- People who is living in the Philippines
- People who live in areas where we do not currently have writers. (Currently, we have writers from the Davao region and from Cagayan de Oro)
- Somebody who can write a column at least once per week
If you meet the criteria and are interested, please send me a note and let’s talk about adding you to the site!
Hi Bob, that’s a great idea. I hope and wish you will get a lot of notes. As I know from many other people, LiP is becoming more and more famous.
Hi Klaus – Yep! I think that we need to expand our horizons a bit and get some input from other areas! I really do hope that some others jump in and share what they know with us!
Hi Bob your thought it’s very great. Yes must to open
your site no write only davao but for all philippines
I agree with you good luck for new start.
Hi Bob,
Good idea!
Have you also considered getting writers to contribute less frequently who are interested in but not living in the Philippines who can write on the perceptions of the Philippines from their end, questions and worries that they and their countrymen who may be contemplating such a move have?
Anyway good luck with the broadening of views expressed.
Regards,
Michael
Hey Bob Michael has agood idea there.People around the world your thoughts on Michaels idea.
Hi Bob- As Michael and Frank say it would be good to know exactly what preperation prospective new residents to the Philippines have to undergo in order to make the move. Why make the move in the first place? What are the possible pitfalls? What preperations have to be considered such as accommodation, moving household effects considering financial arrangements leaving family behind organising medical insurance etc.
There are lots of thing as we have found out before one can make the transition from old home to new home.
Hi Jim did you receive my e-mail. sent about 10 days ago.
Hi Frank- No I have not received any mail I was waiting t hear from you.
jcjimc@aol.com
Hi zois – Thanks for sharing your opinion on that!
Hi Michael – What you are suggesting is kind of what the “Guest Blog” is all about. For people who want to contribute less frequently, they can always submit an article for the Guest Blog and it will be published there.
Hi Frank – Yes, I do think it’s a good idea too!
Hi Jim – Yeah, it would indeed be a good idea. I have covered every one of those topics on different columns, but am always open to discussing any topic more. Like you say, especially the topic of preparing for the move here is a major thing that can never be discussed too much!
bob, the idea of writers from all parts of the philippines sounds very good to me. i think that for thows of us who are still liveing in the usa we will have moore choices in our future if we are able to see and live the philippines ( on line ) than the ones who made the move prior to your writers being on board. your choice to have new writers from all of the philippines might have a magor efect on peoples lifes. thats a big responcibilty. any way bob , for me i think i am in love with mindano. for now . but who knows , if the new writers can paint a better picture for me then maybe some day i can write you from diffrent parts of the philippines. thank you bob. i believe you helping so meny people just by being who you are.
tabi bob, my asawa igsoon is a nun ( madray ) in manila.maybe she will be willing to write from there to show the prosprective between manila and mindano. ill call her and let her know about your site.
Hi Jerry – Thanks for the tips. Like you, I am in love with Mindanao! I expect that I’ll spend the rest of my days here!
Hi Bob I thinking you have now the chance and you can make more interest your site. If the readers write comments
If write wrong How fix. If you possible you can make
1) Correction
2) Answer
3) Inside
Example I have one question for you and you don’t know
but maby some other person he is know answer or answer

Downstairs there is three Buttons

Hi Bob,
Writers from other regions would certainly add depth to the blog/magazine.
Will be retiring (again) in about a year and moving back up here to the northern shores of Luzon. With internet service improving daily in this area, making a contribution or two would not be out of the question if you’d have it/them.
‘Til then, I’ll be keeping a diary/log of experiences. Have a couple of friends who’ve asked me to do so and forward it to them for consideration. Hope my experiences are average–don’t want things to look too good or too bad!
Hi zois – I am not certain that I understand what you mean. I am thinking you are talking about going back to the “nested” comments that we tried out for a short time last year. It seemed like most people didn’t care for that, though.
Hi Paul – Keep me posted…. Your columns will certainly be welcomed!
One of the things many don’t consider about writing, especailly for a blog, is it is great fun at times, often very satisfying, but, in return, a strog taskmaster. I think the Guest Post idea is a wise one and pought to be more emoahasized … if somebody gets say 8 or 10 posts in there with some degree of consistency, then they get a column. I’d love to write for LIP, but I’ve refrained from that path so far because ‘m way too busy trying to keep my own ventures running. It isn’t that the work is hard … not at all … but it demands somewhat consistent scheduling and _that_, as anyone who is involved in a large family (in any country) knows, is not easy.
The whole idea of organization to accommodate the needs of “potential movers” has been the goal of a dozen or more folks I’ve worked with in the past … none ever seemed to get it right … for one reason or another … mainly because individual articles and disjoint comments to those articles (which are often at least as valuable as the original article) are too hard to follow/find in the future.
I’d think this a good time to bring forward the thought of a forum again … although it requires work on the part of the host, it’s one of the easier ways to collect the snippets of knowledge that so many people contribute and gert them into a more organized format,
Hi Dave Starr – Yeah, I have been thinking about using the Guest Blog as a sort of “testing ground” for new writers. Problem is that so far there have not been enough Guest Bloggers to do much with it!
I’d still like to get some “Dave Starr Articles.”

Hi bob I find one english site how to edit the coments
there is plugin you check if good this or not this is site
address of the english site http://sw-guide.de/wordpress/plugins/edit-comments-xt/
regards
Hi Zois – I think I would choose not to allow comments to be edited. The problem is that people will edit them after the fact to change the meaning and such. It would not work out good, I think. I do appreciate your suggestion, though. In this case, I just feel that it is not the best move for the site.
Hi Bob okey you make if no like you try to make only
if I write coment how to make correct or repair my coment
I thinking you can make this.
