Hi, Bob. Land here in Spain is very expensive, especially where I live. Most people cannot afford it and just buy an apartment although they would have wanted to have a house with a wide garden, etc. The real-estate here in Mallorca was in such a boom that the real price of the property was actually just 60% of the selling price.

The DSL vs Cable issue is of interest to us here in Cagayan de Oro as well . I have cable connection for my computer but unlike the first world it is far poorer than DSL . PLDT is now serving some areas here with a newer package that is getting good reviews and Parasat is rolling out it’s switch from analog to digital tv this month . That one depends on your viewpoint as the price will double not to mention having to buy new tv for many . But the biggest ” grump ” by many is that customers will be forced to go digital within 2 years if they want ANY foreign tv programming .

Hi ensueno – Actually, land in the Philippines can be much more than land in the USA. I believe you are in Spain if I remember correctly, so I don’t know for sure about that, though.

yes… it’s still much cheaper than buying land abroad… i have checked sites of a couple of real-estate agencies in the Philippines and my oh my! the prices are really soaring up!

Hi ensueno – Well, to be honest, the Philippines really hasn’t been hit by the crisis. I only see land here going up, never seen it go down yet! I’m not making any new predictions, though, until 2010!

hi, bob! how about the real estate, what’s your prediction? are the prices going up (due to its demand) or down (due to the economy prices)? seems to me like the Philippines is barely (or not at all) noticing the effect of the world-wide economy crisis… is it a good time to invest there now?

Hi steve – Spell check is pretty good these days. Fact checking needs better implementation in browsers, I find!

Nah, no cable internet here either. Actually, my discussions with SkyCable indicate that their service area is in a very small area right now, mostly in Matina. Crazy!

Actually, when I was using PLDT (I used it for over 6 years) I was pretty happy with them. I am on SmartBro now, and they have been good for me too.

Nicaragdao is really and truly the nickname of the Agdao area back in the 80s! No joking!

Hi steve – Well, I can say for sure that you are wrong about the skycable. It is available in parts of Davao, but is not also available in Marfori Heights where I live!

Agdao was safe 10 years ago. It was back in the late 80’s that Agdao was a killing zone, and was known as “Nicaragdao”. Governor is actually much less powerful than Mayor, so I hope that Duterte does not go for Governor!
