Typhoon Pepeng (International Name Parma) is currently making it’s way through Northern Luzon, having made landfall there a few hours ago. I have been keeping in touch with Paul Keating, who lives in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, not all that far from where the storm is passing through.
Earlier today, Paul sent me a video of current conditions at his location. Things are still fairly calm in the area, but Paul told me that he hopes to update me with additional videos as the storm passes through. Of course, with the possibility of severe weather conditions, we can’t be sure if Paul will be able to do additional videos or not. Also, Internet has already been in and out for Paul. so it’s unsure he will be able to transmit the videos to me either. But, if he is able to get the video and send it to me, I will keep sharing Paul’s storm videos here, and also on my You Tube Channel.
Good luck Paul, and anybody else in the storm’s “hot zone,” we are praying for your safety.
Thanks for the update Bob and Paul. For a novice like me, where do I find your u tube channel?
Hi Ed – Over on the right side of the site, about halfway down you will see a heading that says “Blogroll” – it links to sites related, my sites, other writer’s sites and such. You will find a link there that says “Bob’s You Tube Channel” – just click on that. Or, here is a link for your convenience.
Hi from the UK. We’re watching the news and listening to radio stations in the Philippines via the internet. My wife is from Bayugan in Mindanao but we can’t seem to get any information as to how (or if) they are affected there by the Typhoon; we can’t get through to any cellphones, but that’s nothing unusual. The news here in the UK is pretty useless, they just say ‘northern province’ of the Philippines! We assume they mean Luzon. What is the current situation in Mindanao, we are desperate to know.
Ken & Rubelyn
Hi Ken – Mindanao is outside the typhoon belt and does not get typhoons. Bayugan has no effects from the typhoons. No need to be worried.
Bob, I hope Paul can give you more video updates on Parma. Looks like Paul has a beautiful house just looking at the fencing. My beloved province of Marinduque was spared by Ondong, thanks God, but have relatives in Manila who suffered from the Katrina-typed flooding. Their homes have been flooded knee-deep. By the way congratulations on your new achievement as writer for the Davao Sun newspaper.
I’ve been getting updates from Paul via text message mostly. He has told me that there is a lot of rain and wind, but I believe there is not much concrete info to report as of now.
