Great story Chris. I hadn’t realized how many steps were involved in rice farming. The share cropper economy developed by the Filipinos is an amazing story in itself. Thanks for sharing.

You grind it into flower and then use it! Strange about the plants but there was not many for sale at the time, thats why we brought them with us! Now there are lots!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the informative story. I, like you, would have assumed that hardy European plants would have boomed in the tropical heat. Strange that is. By the way, what does one do with dried corn (maize) kernals for human consumption? I know about feeding them to animals, but have never seen or heard of a recipe for dried corn, unless you make meal out of it. Just curious.

Thanks for the good words! We have hag lots of fun here and as you say we were pioneering as there were not too many white faces here at the time who actually lived and worked in the population!

Hi Edward,

I tried all kinds of stuff when I first arrived here and eventually decided to let the wife do the work while I went diving!
As you say, 20 years ago it WAS fun and I had a god time doing it!
As for the goat, He won and got my butt many times more before we ate him!
