A week ago, I applied to work for a company in Alaska. The interview went well and all they needed for me was a medical and drug test. Easy enough, they had a partner company that would email me some information about it. A few days later I got the email and had to answer […]
Well, it is already March! That means a couple of things that are different here than in other parts of the world!
Firstly, it is now summer! That’s right, it is summer in the Philippines! Summer here starts in March and runs through around the beginning to middle of June. That means that school is out for the year, and a new school year will be starting in June.
When the kids are home from school, other things change in the Philippines too! For one thing, the Internet changes a lot! The Internet? You are probably wondering what changes about the Internet. Well, like I said, starting this month, the kids are out of school. They are home all day, or if not at home a lot of them are in Internet Cafes around the country. Imaging thousands (millions?) of kids playing bandwidth intensive computer games all around the country! Well, imagine further just how much of the (already limited) Philippine Internet bandwidth is consumed by those kids all playing video games! Let me just say that for those in the Philippines who already have a troublesome Internet connection, it can become almost unusable during the summer months.

In December 2015, we re-subscribed to SkyCable’s Internet Service. SkyCable is the local Cable TV provider. We have been SkyCable Cable TV Subscribers sine 2000 when we first moved to the Philippines. First, in General Santos City when we were living there, and then we subscribed with them when we moved to Davao. Over the […]
Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm, in just the first month, people have already spent $250 million on it. For those who don’t know what it is, it’s an alternate reality game for your smartphone. Basically, you use your phone’s GPS and camera to find, capture and train Pokemon, so let’s say you’re […]
