This is Aaron’s article, but I would also like to add a few comments about the bombing. It is very sad that Davao has been hit with this event. Such acts are so uncommon in Davao, so we are so sad that it happened. Dabawenyos are a strong lot, though, and the city will not […]
Safety in the Philippines
When I moved to the Philippines in 2000, the biggest concern that my family and friends expressed to me was about the safety of living in the Philippines. Others who have made the move have told me that they experienced the same concern from their family and friends back home.
The truth is that safety is a concern these days no matter where in the world you may live. Whether it is in the USA, Europe or anywhere else, safety must be considered, and the Philippines is no different.

For most of the Philippines, the emergency hotline is 117. There are some exceptions, like Davao, which does use 911, but mostly, it’s 117. They are apparently working on switching to 911 for the whole country. I think this would be a very good change, especially if they also change some other things with how […]
A few days ago, the ex-PNP chief was jailed along with some others because of allegations of corruption. Most of them have already posted bail. The allegations are in connection to a gun license delivery deal. The arraignment is set for June 20. Aside from that, I really don’t know much else. President-elect Duterte isn’t […]
I got a comment from somebody. She left it a few days ago on one of my posts that was published 3-4 years ago. I was shocked she left this comment. Here’s what she said: “Why do you want go there. That place is red zone, because it’s filled with Muslims extremist. Mindanao is not wise place. […]
