Do you guys remember a few months ago, I wrote about my experience drinking civet coffee? What is that, you ask? Well, it is coffee that is made from the droppings of a cat like animal called a Civet. I have now enjoyed many a cup of civet coffee, and honestly it is delicious! It is the world’s most expensive, after all!
What do you think, would you try civet coffee? You don’t know what you are missing!

For me, there is no better sign that it is Christmas time than hearing Jose Mari Chan singing the song “Christmas in our Hearts.” I find it a very special Christmas song, and it really makes me think about the Philippines.
I have been a fan of Jose Mari Chan since my first visit to the Philippines in 1990, and I still enjoy his singing today.
Give this song a listen, and see what you think.

A regular reader of this site, “Bob New York” recently made his first visit to the Philippines. He went to Iligan City, in Northern Mindanao. Before going to Iligan, Bob did a lot of research about the place, including consulting with me more than once! I gave Bob the “thumbs up” telling him that I thought that Iligan was a safe place to visit, and that he would enjoy himself.
Well, since his return to the States, Bob has really been telling me how much he enjoyed his trip! He has put together a YouTube Video showing a slideshow of some of his photos from the trip. Have a look and enjoy!
Thank you, Bob, for sharing your photos! I’m glad that you enjoyed your trip!

There are a lot of bizarre foods in the Philippines, but perhaps the kind of bizarre foods is Balut. Balut is a fertilized duck egg that is roughly about 18 days old (the age can vary, and determines the “solid” state of the egg). The egg can contain the duck beak, even feathers of the maturing duck that is ready to hatch.
Watch the Video below to see an American trying his first taste of balut!

It always seems to me that having beautiful hair is very important to Filipinos, well particularly to Filipinas. There are so many different shampoos and other hair care items available here in the Philippines, and they are among the most advertised items on Philippine TV.
Take a look at the ad below to see how this lowly girl is treated by the “wealthy” sisters, but once they see her beautiful hair, their attitude totally changes!
