All of you might know what American Football is, if not it’s basically trying to get the ball to the other end of the field to get a touchdown, doing this while the other team tries to tackle you. Well, last summer, my old I.T. teacher, who loved football (he even showed us a movie, Remember the Titans, during our last few days of I.T.), anyway, he invited us to a training camp for football that summer, although I did not go. After the training part, the team was officially formed, and because I am American, the team members have been wanting me on the team for like forever, since I didn’t know where they play, I declined. After a few more attempts to make me join, they eventually gave up. Although I was curious about it, I didn’t really think to much about it, and for the last few months it’s been at the back of my head, although sometimes popping up whenever I ask my friends if we can go to Gametek (an XBox 360 game place) on Saturday, he will sometimes respond with “No, I can’t, we have practice.”. After that I just shrug it off, although it is strange he doesn’t ask me to join the team, I guess he knows the answer.
But another person on the team, the quarterback, brought a football one day to play after school, and asked me to at least play during dismissal, but I said I can’t because I have a lot to do, like pick up my brother, so he didn’t complain about it, but while playing catch during lunch time, he had asked me again, and I again declined. Seeing that he lost the battle, but didn’t lose the war, he asked me to play Saturday. Seeing as I didn’t have anything to do (XBox 360 broken…again), I said I might be there. So every time they can, they would remind me, even in the smallest way possible. From small hand signals that display throwing a ball, to whispering it to me.
Just about 3 hours before the game, me and my brother went to Gamtek (played CoD: Black Ops and Rockband), and just about 1 hour before the game we went home, I prepared a t-shirt just in case, and waited for my cousin to swing by and pick me up (he was driving mom and my aunt to buy my cousin a cake for her birthday), when we left, we had to drop mom and my aunt at SM, after that we went to agro (the soccer field is used by the team for football), my cousin did show me the road to Sandawa first, there, I would have to take a tricycle to our home. Then we went to agro, we did see some team playing soccer, but not football, then we went around the field, and no sign of them.
I really wasn’t that sad, this is somewhat typical here in the Philippines, so now, I really am not going to their practices/games ever again.
