Here is Lica’s e-mail:
Hello sir bob. Ill be going home this September. Im a dual citizen, US and Philippine, I have my US passport and my old Phil.passport but it is still valid. My question is, do I need a visa to go home to the Phil. or I just need to have my Phil passport even if I don’t have the visa thingy? And I only have 1 way ticket. What passport will I show in the O’hare Airport in Chicago when I check in? What passport will I show in Hongkong? In Philippines? Hmm. Please help ‘coz I’m confused sir. Thanks! PS: Please notify me in my e-add so I know if you have a answer. Thanks sir. More powers and God bless!
Generally, US Customs does not check passports upon leaving the USA. If I were you, I would use my Philippine Passport, or show both of your Passports, when traveling to the Philippines (show it to any authority who asks to see your Passport). When traveling back to the USA, I would use my US passport. It’s that simple. If you are in Hong Kong or any other place, show the passport for the country where you are transiting to.
Good luck, Lica.
