My brother-in-law, Jhun has been visiting here at our house for nearly a week! Jhun is the husband of Feyma’s sister, Sally. They live in General Santos City.
During the time that we moved, in January, Jhun and Sally came and helped us with the move, and stayed with us for a couple weeks. Actually, Sally stayed with us for about a month, helping us with our Valentine’s Day Rush on WowPhilippines. We do a lot of business during that time, and it was nice of Sally to be here to help us through the rush.
Anyway, Jhun had gone back to GenSan around the first of February. He has work there, he is self-employed doing sales work, and he had to get back to work. However, we had a few “handyman” type jobs which needed to be done here in our new place. Jhun is a good handyman, something which I’m not very good at. I have my own fortes, but doing that kind of work is not one of them. So, Jhun was nice enough to come back and help with those things. So far he has been here for a week, he will probably spend a few more days. Getting everything done will be nice because then our house will be completely the way we want it.
When I first met Jhun
Back in the mid-90s, we made a trip back to the Philippines, we were living in the United States at that time. When we were in General Santos, Sally (who was single at the time) was living in the family house with her mom (Feyma’s mom as well, of course). One night, we were sitting around the house talking, and a light bulb went out. It was up in a high location where nobody in the house could reach. Sally called Jhun to help fix it. When Jhun came, and I saw him, I whispered to Feyma – “that guy is going to be married to Sally.” Somehow, I just knew it. Feyma told me that I was crazy and that he and Sally had no interest in each other. I said, just wait and see.
Well, as I recall, it was like six months later, we received the message that Sally was getting married. The rest is history.
Jhun is a great guy
Over the years, I have spent time with Jhun, and I can say, he is really a nice guy. Always willing to help, always very kind and generous. He really is a great brother-in-law. I have enjoyed knowing him and spending time with him.
Jhun is also a good cook. In fact, in the picture above, I had gone to the kitchen, where Feyma was preparing a salad for my dinner. It just happened that Jhun was in there preparing a Filipino dish for the others to eat tonight. Jhun often does the cooking.
I remember, in January 2017, we went down to General Santos City for a family reunion. Jhun was more or less in charge of all of the cooking. There were a lot of different dishes being cooked that day, and Jhun had a hand in all of them. I volunteered, and I cooked some Calderetta, but you can bet, Jhun kept checking on me to make sure I was doing it right. Well, it was my first time to cook that dish. LOL.
Jhun, if you see this article, I just want to tell you that I really appreciate everything you do to help us. You really are a great brother-in-law and a good husband for Sally. I am proud to call you not only my brother-in-law but my brother.
