2007 review part one
I have been very lucky to be part of this website for many months now and have learnt so much from people who comment, and even more important I have made a fantastic friend too.
As we now approach the end of 2007 I thought I would review some of my earlier articles and bring them upto date if so required.
To the ex pats customer service or the lack of it seems baffling to us, we cannot understand it. It almost seems that money or profit is not the prime concern for some of the business’s.
Out of stocks bad attitudes and lack of training continue to make this subject number one on my mo list, especially like many of you I come from banking and retail where customer service and training is a must to god work practice and to job security too.
I now do consultancy work and I see the other side of the problem especially when you think that most service staff are on a six month contract only avoid DOLE payments and it seems within the culture that many people are shy or afraid to out perform or shine in case they offend people who have been in the position for many .years
I am learning the culture differences and I am understanding more, however I have seen with my own eyes that with training and good management procedures people DO GET BETTER, SERVICE DOES GET BETTER AND STAFF BECOME HAPPIER.
I am lucky to be working for a forward thinking company that allows me to develop systems and staff, but many would not even try it.

Hi John looks like we have lost Pete Bennet. You will have to fly the flag for the Brits now. Do you and Steve resolve your accomodation problem.As Bob Knowns i am an regular follower of this blog. So times i go out of circulation alot That means i am travelling.Service levels in Phil are not the best. I agree no training and 6 months temp contracts do not help the problem.
