Always on the way

“Drop me a line while you’re away”, has been one of the most listened to phrases in my life. Yes, I confess, I’ve been always a restless contemporary, who needed to go “somewhere out there” after a couple of days “spending with my computer” (and family of course!). Living hidden away - but just to finish some write ups - has been always okay. But then I need to go out met people.

The problem before: if somewhere has been especially very beautiful, my impulse to live there permanently let me make quite a to-do about it.

Vacation in Italy and I even enjoyed the nasty weather and decided to stay there for good. I loved (still love) the Italian language, the Italian pasta, and Italian music. Wow, the landscaping was really great…

Vacation in Scandinavia, and at that time, I was very sure, that this should be my future place. Clean air, no pollution, and heaven’s with, mountains and dream lakes.

Vacations in France, and I was very sure, I couldn’t survive any more without blooming lavender fields, secluded valleys and castles nearly falling into ruins. Here I’ll keep animals for breeding and enjoy my French Bread, cheese and red wine.

My next trip took me to New York. I really enjoyed everything without respite: life, different languages, different people, great variety, explicit restaurants, malls, and a breathtaking view of life and always-new ideas of an incredible lifestyle. Let’s rent an apartment in Manhattan and let’s forget all the pendants, sticklers and small-time fellows. Sure, it’s not cheap, but many a mickle makes a muckle…

Now I stay here in the Philippines for good and you can’t tell me anything. I’m happy. I am sure, you guys have some same experiences. We might replay and repeat our opinions from time to time, WHY or WHY NOT live in the Philippines, but I guess, that’s okay.

I learned a very important lesson from my late Grandma: We took a chance and we venture to add “nothing ventured, nothing gained!”

Drop me a line while you’re away - yes, and I’m sorry, many times I’ve forgotten to do so. But no more removals are possible, once we’re in heaven.

And you, my dear readers, what are your plans for today and surfing in the Internet? A spin, even the last splash-proof enclosure reparation has been expensive and the gasoline prices really let us burst into tears. Always on the way - there are plenty of alternative possibilities, while live in the Philippines.

Hi Klaus - I am with you! I also am a guy that likes to roam around from place to place. Actually as a child my family moved many times from one place to another. I guess since I’ve been an adult I have longed to settle down and stay in a place, but until moving to the Philippines I never found the RIGHT place to call home. Now, I know where it is….

    Klaus,
Well I understand, I used to travel the US on Business and fell in love with a lot of the places I had seen.
Then years ago I vacationed in Jamaca, the people so friendly and caring, so I dreamed about living there.
I visited Bulgaria and I loved that country, but there language was difficult and they use a different alphabet too.
I also get bored with where I had lived. As income increased or jobs change, so did my residence. I was born in New York and in 1979 I moved to Southern California. I lived there 18 years and I think the count was 20 different places I lived.
I have now been in Florida and only lived in 2 places, the second for 8 years. Why 8, because I bought it. LOL
Now, on December 4th I jump on a plane to Davao.
I will see how many times we move there. (maybe Elena will kick me out if we move too many times and I will need to move again.

Hi Bob, I learned already that we have many things in common. Yeah, I also know now where “my place is”. Thanks for dropping by.

Hi Bruce and Elena, I got the same dream regarding Jamaica (I stayed there 1974). Thanks for sharing. Interesting life also. So December 4 both of you will be back in Davao. We are looking very much forward to it. Maybe you will change also and become like Bob and me and many other guys. Thanks for visiting my blog. See you for sure!

Hi Marc, yeah, I was very lucky and blessed to see all those places. Once upon a time. As you can see, I am different now. Oops: A very simple quite “promdi” from Bohol. You are never out of topic. And, every dream can become reality. By the way, Bohol is a very nice place. My mentor Father Gene Bacareza was born there. Keep on dreaming and thanks for dropping by.
