Time is limited…

Hey guys, thanks again for dropping by. A couple of days I asked your opinion about “Filipino Time”. Today I would like to ask you this: “Do you think time is passing by faster as an expat in the Philippines or in your home country or how do you feel as commuter “between two worlds”? Maybe it’s also a question of age.

Okay, I keep myself pretty busy while living in the Philippines. But since a couple of years I experienced that time here is really flying away. Good or bad?

Let’s share our thoughts and ideas…

Hi Klaus - I think it’s a question of age, more than of where we live. I experience the same thing - time is flying by so fast! In the amount of time that should be a day, a month has already slipped by. I believe that the older we get, the quicker time passes us by. Sad… but true.

Hi Klaus and Bob - I agree that age may have something to do with the how fast time flies, but think it has an indirect effect. A more direct effect may come from day to day experiences.

When we were young, all was new and everything was a new experience. We packed a lot of these new experiences into our day, and we measured the length of our day by the number of new experiences we had. The more the new experiences, the longer the day felt.

We still use the same method to measure the length of our day now that we are older. Trouble is, the number of new experiences is not as large as it was in our youth, and the day feels shorter-with time zipping by.

Staying adventurous and looking for/living out new experiences may be the way to slow that clock down! (The experience of anticipation or waiting for something really slows things down  )

Hi Klaus- Strange you should mention time and age but I was told by a colleague when I reached 50 that there was only 6 months in a year.
How true this has been time just seems to fly past. However now I’m 60 I shudder to think how many months are in a year all I can say is I just don’t know where the time goes as its almost the end of the year already, another one gone almost.

Hi Jim, I am 54 now. I keep myself very busy, but I also think that every year has only six months. On the other hand my nieces and nephews (ages between 15 and 24) are telling me the same: Time passes by so very fast. Maybe we can’t explain it better, we have to bear it and do the best out of everything.
