Boon or Bane? Part II

You remember my write up from January 16, 2008? Yesterday we have been informed inform, that the City Government of Davao  will start  charging a garbage collection fee from next month on.  The calculation is not yet very sure. (!).  The idea is to charge  “per squaremeter living area of the building”. Means to say: our house measures 200 squaremeters, and we will be charged about 60 Pesos monthly - no matter, how many people are living in our house. By the way, we are three…

Mmh, I am afraid, that this again one of the “non-well-cooked meals”. Let’s wait and see…

I think it would be very interesting for all readers to share “garbage stories and/or collection fees” from other parts of this wonderful country named Philippines.

  1. Hi Klaus - I want that you will pay our garbage fees! I think that City Officials are reading this site, and they got the idea to start charging fees because they read your earlier column! The payment should be on you!

  2. Haha, very funny. Sure I will pay yours, Bob. But they planned the implementation already more then two years ago. Anyway, let me know, if you get your first bill…

  3. You are lucky to be not paying garbage fees just yet in davao. Here in gensan, since I moved here in 2003, we pay P 50 per month to have our garbage collected. That’s with a private collector. The city government has trucks collecting too but they are not reliable though the fee is cheaper (i think P 2 per sack).

  4. Hi Klaus it’s good news the next month there is car take
carbage from any house in davao.

  5. Hi Cathy, regards to GenSan and thanks for dropping by. Yup, maybe we are lucky, on the other hand I would pay the amount, if the collector comes regulary and if the garbage disappears. It’s terrible to watch (and smell) any corner… The government trucks collector say the same here in Davao City.

  6. Hi Zois, yup, it’s good news. Thanks for stopping by.
