I love nature - also at home…
While visiting several parts of Mindanao during the last weeks I observed again, how much I do love nature. And, I also observed too, how much the Philippines, especially Mindanao is blessed with wonderful and breath taking places.
And then after being home again? I enjoy “my little nature” too. From the first day, my family and I moved to Davao for good, we got the idea to use our lot also for a wild and “natural garden”. We let trees growing (especially fruit trees such as mango, rambutan, guava, coconut or even a durian…
Many times landscaping companies and gardeners contacted us and offered its knowledge. But up to now, sorry guys, we enjoy lay out our garden ourselves.
In between “everything” is growing and blooming. We all became very happy seeing our very rare and unique Waling-Waling orchid blooming after more then nine years.
We get a lot of help from our family when it goes to gardening … and then let’s enjoy the garden party after moving pruning shears, lawn-mowers and rakes.
By the way: our small pool became a fish farm. Believe it or not: less gnats, especially in the evening, are bothering us. I only don’t know, when the “tilapias” are big enough to be eaten…
We are taking all our meals mostly on our veranda. Can you imagine, how nice it is to watch different butterflies and birds? Before I knew ‘colibris’ just from the TV. Especially nowadays they are always “our special guests” looking for the flowers’ nectar … .
Yes, I love nature - also at home. If you are an ex pat living here in the Philippines you should also look for a nice garden. You will never be bored… .

Hello Klaus,
You are so lucky to have such a beatiful surrounding in your own home…
Yes, indeed marveling at breath taking views, will definitely provides good atmosphere…by the way, is your durian tree bearing some fruit now? …..
You should post a picture of your garden Klaus. In the words of the venerable asian philisopher “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
Hi Maryg, thanks for stopping by… All fruit trees are bearing already, the Durian not yet. Actually ,as I learned: it may take years. But I like this tree as well as the mango trees, because they give a good shadow and “a wonderful atmosphere”…
Hi David S., I know it. Actually I was planning to do it. Be sure, I will next time (photo gallery). I wasn’t yet finished taking photos, so i just posted this article… Anyway, thanks for your comment.
Hi Klaus-
May the spirit of Nature continues to bless you with prosperity and happiness.

Hi Len, thanks a lot for stopping by. I am glad to hear from you and that you enjoy reading my posts. You have been missed very much during the 44th Annual Induction of Officers and Directors and Turnover Ceremonies (Rotary Year 2008-2009) last June 14 in the Marco Polo Hotel. Indeed you are right: Rotary made me also appreciate life, people, nature and God. It’s amazing how they do fellowships. Also this: having different opinions don’t mean to fight or insult each other. I am sure, I try to be very involved in community services and fellowships. I willl extend your heartily greetings to ALL members on our next meeting this coming Tuesday. Keep safe in the U.S. and see you hopefully again first week of August. I am sure, we can enjoy another (private?) piano classical performance…
hi Klaus . My wife and I started a little garden in the back our home . so many exotic plants grow in the area ,hummm but to my wife they are weeds . So we plant new ones..plants ,weeds they all look good to me ..
..now i can’t wait to see how it looks the next time i go back …i like to sit in a lush tropical garden and watch the world go by ……Phil R.
Hi Phil R, yup, also weeds are good looking for me. We only take care some times, because during the last years we got already nine snakes. One cobra killed one of our dogs, and one python was just a meter away from my wife, when she started to remove to much weeds
. But you are right, I also enjoy sitting in the lush garden watching the world go by…
