Hi guys! Probably one of the most popular foods in the Philippines is Adobo. Adobo can be made with virtually any kind of meat. Chicken, Pork, Fish or anything else, really. Probably the most popular adobo is a combination of Chicken and Pork in the same dish!
Today, I want to share with you guys a recipe that I found on YouTube, how to cook Chicken Adobo, using Chicken Wings.
Remember, there is not “right” or “wrong” way to cook adobo. Everybody has their own recipe, and no two recipes are identical! Just feel free to play around with the recipe. Add new ingredients to “spice” up your Adobo is you want to. Make any changes you wish. If you come up on something that’s really unique and delicious, please share it with the LiP family!
So, here is a video on how to cook chicken adobo:

Hi Feyma,
Great ideal, the recipe is easy to understand, and Adobo is a very taste meal. Now I will try to cook it tonight and suprise my fiance. Were just missing the secret ingrediant at the end of the video.
Feyma
Hi Mike In Canada – The secret ingredients was just a sili (pepper) to make it spicy. And in the beginning cook it with good amount of onions if you are into onions.
Have fun eating!

I don’t bragging but I make a fine Adobo here in RI, I usually make it a Combo Adobo with Chicken, Pork and throw in some Central Falls Kielbasa or Hot Chourico. Nothing like the smell of simmering Vinegar, Soy sauce and Garlic simmering on the stove.
Feyma
Hi Neal – Your adobo sounds good to me. Will try to cook that.
Thank you for sharing.

My wife used some pinoy soy sauce and I had such heartburn thought I was having a heart attack. She has to use the weak kinkoman on this kano. Were in southern Vermont, glad to hear other pinoys in the New England area

Mmmm, my kids love Adobo, so I will make this as soon as you give up the secret:)
Feyma
Hi John Leick – Thank you so much.

Yeah, Adobo is the bomb when you don’t really feel up to cooking. Throw everything in the pot and cover it…done. I like to add veggies to bulk it up. Gotta pick the right stuff though, example: string beans = a big pot of goodness, eggplant= a soggy mess.
Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the “no wrong way to cook adobo” statement. My sister-in-law made frog adobo once. I’m talking about whole frogs. That was just WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. 🙂
Feyma
Hi Aaron – Can’t argue you more. It’s really an easy recipe to cook.
Frog adobo, hmm, not sure of that. I don’t eat frogs. Sorry, just not on the menu in my household for now.
Have fun cooking. Good to see you here!
Neal in RI
Dam that’s hardcore whole frogs. I could maybe using frog legs but whole frogs, something about looking into the pot and seeing a bunch of bulbous eyes looking back at you doesn’t seem right.

i also add pineapple tidbits along with the syrup that comes with it to my adobo. 🙂
Feyma
Hi sue- lang – Good ingredients to add too. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for stopping by here!

Mrs Feyma,
That Adobo sure looks good. I also like green peppers added when you put the onions in. Marinating the pork in italian dressing helps tenderize it more and give it added flavor. Love to put Sweet Chili Sauce on it after serving. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe. Have a nice day.
Feyma
Hi PapaDuck – Good addition you had there too. I will try that sometimes and let you know.
Thank you for sharing your recipe too.
God bless!

Hi Feyma,
I was a little disappointed — I just finished my first visit to the Philippines and didn’t get to have any adobo until I was sitting in the Cebu airport awaiting my flight back to the States. Now don’t misunderstand me . . . I had some incredible food during my short two-week visit, but I really did think that I would be served up some adobo near the beginning of my visit, not at the very end. The chicken and pork adobo that I did eat was excellent. I plan on being back in the Philippines soon . . . and now that I have a few more friends there, I think I have a better chance of scoring some home made adobo.
Feyma
Hi ScottB – Hopefully next time you come for a visit you will have all kinds of adobo. If you eat squid, try the squid adobo.
Good luck and have fun!
ScottB
The squid sounds good. I had “sizzling squid” a couple of times and found it very enjoyable. My next visit will be for around two months, so I’m sure I will have many more opportunities to explore the great foods of the Philippines.

Hi feyma my ex used to cook pork adobo ,i didnt really like it that much probably because i dont really like pork ,she never did chicken adobo probably would have liked it if she had oh well never mind looks good anyway

Feyma
Hi chris – Try the chicken adobo maybe you will like it. If you are not into soy sauce and vinegar, then you might not into adobo. You can really taste those two ingredients though.
Have fun cooking.
