Every few days, I usually get a text from my service provider Sun. You’d think it would be an important message about the service, how long until I have to reload or something like that. Nope, they always text me about new deals and promotions that I have absolutely no interest in.
I understand that it’s marketing and they do it to get more money, they are a company, after all, of course, they would try to get more money. My problem with it is, I can’t make it stop. They need an option at the end saying something like “To stop getting these messages, text ‘stop’ to (some number)”. They change their promos and deals so much anyway that I’ll get texts for dozens of different promotions, most of them basically could have been the same promo but they change some small detail.
For me, my phone is used for very few things, music, internet when possible and needed, reading and calls/texts in that order. I rarely use my phone for calling and texting anymore. 75% of the texts I get are probably from Sun. Music is at the top of what I use my phone for because whenever I go out, I need music and whenever I sleep I listen to music. Internet is really on there because of Discord to chat with friends and Reddit to browse some subreddits I like. Reading I do quite a bit of, but recently I haven’t been reading as much as I want.
I personally use an Android phone, a ZTE Axon 7 mini to be more specific, and while I like Android better than Apple, the phone I have has a few bugs that I still need to fix (just been too lazy 🙂 ). The last update that it pushed kinda broke the LTE, the last week or so in the States, I had to connect to my brother’s iPad to get internet. It’s a really simple fix, just roll back the update and reinstall it, but I really don’t want to redo all my accounts and passwords and data, so I’ve been putting it off. Not like I need LTE here in the Philippines anyway. There’s a new update for my phone which I’ve also been putting off in case it breaks more things. If I could, I would just root it and run a custom ROM like CyanogenMod (or whatever they renamed it to) just because I’ve always wanted to run that ROM but unfortunately I’ve never had a phone compatible with it and my ZTE isn’t, so that’s a no-go. I do know that a lot of people here in the Philippines prefers either Apple or Samsung for the status of owning them. Well, either those brands or just an old Nokia 3310 that miraculously still works after years and probably only needs to be charged once a month 🙂
I really hope there’s like a secret way of stopping these texts because I hate them. Just a waste of time on their end and mine as well.
