A few days ago me and my sister were working outside. We were cleaning and trimming my orchids. I had Deo, my nephew, buying some fertilizer for my orchids and the rest of my flowering plants. Of course if I will be outside my kids will hang out with me there especially its a Saturday, no school. While working we heard a loud squeak of wheels. We all ran out near the gate to see if there was an accident? We could see a lot of cars, we thought one of them ran over a motorbike or something. All of a sudden we could hear a loud voice, screaming/fighting really. Well we saw at the end of our street, there were 2 people walking and they’re drunk. The squeak that we heard was the car just stopped instantly to avoid the 2 drunkards. One of them fell from the sidewalk (just 2 steps down) to the main road. He can’t really hold himself up. We’re all thinking that the 2 people that were drunk are twins. They both look alike. Maybe around mid 40’s to early 50’s.
It was quiet for awhile so we thought the 2 drunkards left already and went home. Within less than 10 minutes a big commotion was going on at our street again. Cars were beeping and some drivers screaming. To find out those drunkards were back. The other guy was just zigzagging on the pathway to the main road. Just watching him scares me that some vehicle might bump him and injure him badly, especially with the big trucks. One of the drunkards can still remember where their house is and keep telling the other guy the way to their house. The other guy keeps fighting and falling on the street. Just right across our gate on the front yard of our neighbor the city put the street sign that its crossing ahead. The really drunk guy keep holding on to the sign, he can’t hardly stand up. The other guy just keep holding him, even though he himself also had a hard time standing. The two drunkards kept arguing, one just didn’t have a clue where he is heading, the other guy said that our house is on the other way. I mean they’re screaming at each other. They were screaming just outside the gate of our famous neighbor (The Ampatuans). I’ve heard a lady talking just walking by near our gate and saying we should call 911. If those people really continue on staying in-front of our house I was going to call the police. Maybe just seeing the police would make those drunkards sober. Really I think the police would take them home or just let them stay at the police station until they are sober. To be honest I was surprised that people just didn’t mind the two drunkards. They were just left alone by the passers by. Other people were not screaming at them or calling them names.
After those drunkards left we saw the police car passing by at our street. Wished they came here sooner, they could have seen the 2 drunkards. Oh well, I hope those two really went home before they would get in trouble. I don’t think they did. They did not seem to mind or get angry at some passers by. Both of them can’t really fight back. They were too drunk. I think they just went to party before the local elections. Hmm.. They really partied, its a long weekend because of the election on Monday. No work on Monday. Party time for others. Luckily both of them were not driving. Thank God. Bob and I we are not against people drinking. It’s not our business. I guess as what they always say “Drink Moderately”. Just please don’t drink and drive. Bob’s sister was killed by a drunk driver over 30 years ago. It was really hard for the family to deal with especially to Bob. I know that this is not just a problem here or the USA but its really worldwide.

Hi feyma ,well when i was in the army i can relate to these two guys many a hangover when on leave but never locked up ,they were probaly harmless to anyone as you say they were to drunk to stand up .We have a terrible record here for drink driving people just dont learn they either kill themselves or some other poor sole or like in my apprentices case where three of his mates got in a car with a driver who was drunk 1 is dead one lost an arm and the other is still in a coma the driver was not badly injured,no matter how hard the police try to get the message across they just dont listen ,except when it is to late
chris
Feyma
Hi chris – I know what you mean. It just so hard though that people won’t listen and never learn.
Thank you for your comment.
Take care!

Hi Feyma, I was involved a bad accident many years ago. A drunk driver ran a stop sign hitting my car at about 50 mph. He was killed at the scene. His passenger and mine were taken away by ambulance. It resulted in me spending several months convalescing and numerous law suits. I don’t drink to excess, never really have, and I try to show my son the consequences of such behavior. When ever we happen upon a seriously inebriated person I will point him out and say something about it. I can relate to Bobs loss as well. Education is the key but I think most people have to experience it for firsthand for it to sink in. These two probably went home and got up the next day as normal. Unfortunately for some it is a way of life. You should feel lucky you don’t see them more often.
Feyma
Hi Mark G. – Sorry to to hear that. Luckily your okay. It must been emotionally draining for you with going through with lawsuit, reviving what happened. We also talked to our kids about the consequences of drinking and driving. To be honest it was really hard on Bob. He can hardly talk about it without crying before.
I think your right those 2 drunkards were okay the next day. We don’t see more often I think because Bob and I don’t go out during night time. We like to stay home and hang out with our kids.
Good to see you here.
Take care!

Sorry to hear about Bob’s Sister. Thats so sad and tragic. Working in the law enforcement /corrections field i see intoxicated individuals first hand. I see drivers who can’t even barely walk driving a car. What is really upsetting is drivers who are illegally in this country and don’t speak english who drive drunk. Alot of officers will not take the time to run a breath test because they don’t speak spanish and they need to ask them several questions associated with the test. They will generally just charge them with no drivers license even though they can barely walk. Unfortunately this happens quite often.
Good job Feyma
Joe
Hi Feyma, Drinking & driving do not mix at all! Sorry about Bob’s sister….I had a couple of friends that ended up as statistics…..Election time….Buying Votes =Party! I really don’t know? Watch the kids during this time!
Feyma
Hi Joe – Can’t agree you more.
Thank you for stopping by!
Take care!

Sadly I have seen things like that many times in the Philippines.
My biggest concern driving at nite is hitting those drunks.
They can be staggering along the road and just as U come up to them they can stagger or fall in front of you.
Also I see drunks passed out laying in the roads to.
Out in the provinces were I live there are no street lights and U just have to drive slowly.
If you do hit a drunk like that you will be responsible to there family.
(Most of those kind of drunks can’t afford to own a car or motor)
In the USA drunks like that get hit & killed allot (we drive faster here.)
Living in the Philippines has some compromises and adjustments.
But were all there by choice.
We all left other uncomfortable conditions behind 🙂
Feyma
Hi Douglass PM (Mather) – Yes the stuff you described happens here more than we know. I hope for more educations of the people here about drinking and driving.
Lot to learn and adjust about living here. Needs patience and tolerance.
Take care!
Dan
Feyma…Your orchid is beautifull in the photo..wow, I am thinking a orchid that pretty here if you could find at the flower shop in USA be very much money..hi hi…It much more pretty than the 2 drunks in the photo..lol…ya..they have a big problem in USA with drunk drivers all the time…and also now having problem with people hanging there cell phone to their ear or texting while driving….a person just has to be extra carefull any more…because you never know when some one drunk will hit you and that be your last day on this planet or some person that has no sense who has a cell phone stuck in their ear or looking down to text some one….But most states here any more you kill some one while drunk or on drugs or even not watching where u are going because your ear has a cell phone stuck in it or texting…you be in jail a long time and that is how it should be…….
Feyma
Hi Dan – I had some orchid similar to the picture with different color. Drunk driving been a problem in every country on earth. Now I think texting might be getting close to it. We were watching a movie last night about a husband feeling guilty. His texting while driving. They got an accident and his wife was killed. All the passengers on the other vehicle were killed instantly just like his wife. He felt responsible for all seven people that were killed. Anyway, its something to think about now. Don’t text and drive.
Thank you for your nice comment.
Take care!

Feyma;
While having coffee in front of my house two weeks ago, I saw a genus coming down the hill on his motor bike, his three year old girl behind him, his wife on the back. And he was on his cell phone, with one hand on the handle bar.
Dan
Paul..if that guy tried that in most states here USA and he got caught he go to jail, they take the kid away and maybe even the mother get wrote up…..
Paul Thompson
Dan;
It was by far the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Thank the stars he wasn’t texting.
Joe
Hi Paul ,A possible Rhode Scholar?

I think i might have that one beat. Theres a guy i saw in my neighborhood the other day on a dirt bike with a young child sitting in front of him doing a wheeley going down the street at a fast speed. i couldn’t believe what i was seeing. What is wrong with people who would put a childs life in danger. take care
Feyma
Hi Paul – To be honest I’m not surprised. Some driver’s really don’t care.
Take care!

Feyma;
My biggest deterrent to drinking and driving was money, I’ve always known that the taxi was far cheaper than killing, someone, myself, or wrecking my car. But the the Navy also helped, you will not get that next promotion if arrested for DUI. Merchant Seaman can never work on a ship if arrested for a DUI, the Coast Guard will run a nation wide check on you and if you had one charge against, no Merchant Seaman “Z” card will be issued. Here in the Philippines, it would just be plum dumb to even think about it. That’s why all my cars here have been automatic, so my darling wife can drive.
Dan
Paul..thats so sweet that your sweet lovley drives and you can just enjoy it all…..
Cheryll Ann
Well at least they were not drunk driving just drunk walking, hehehe.
Feyma
Hi Cheryll – Ha ha ha. Your right. 🙂

Feyma, I love the orchid photo! Do you know the specie name of the orchid? Have a Good day and Cheers! Is this one of your favorites? My favorite is a light blue orchid, named Princess Mikasa.

Yeah drinking is a real problem in many country, the Philippines seemed far worse then where i am from minnesota, seems there are really only 3 forms of entertainment, ( chika kissmiss ) ( drinking red horse or brandy and ice tea ) or my favorite ( boom boom ) hehe. i guess these are the most inexpensive forms of entertainment, most of the time i don’t have a problem with drunks, but i don’t really like when they get so friendly and put there hands all over me, i know in the Philippines men can be close to men and not be gay, but it still is an instant aggravation for me and i feel uncomfortable…i better get use to it, going to move there soon hehe.
Jason
for myself if i am going anywhere i keep it to 3 or 4 drinks, if i am responsible for someone else’s safety i will keep it to only 2 drinks if i have to drive. or just grab a trike there and back.
