Hey guys I am going to give you another breakfast recipe that the ingredients are easy to find here in the Philippines. It’s one of the favorite breakfast in our household.
For ground beef for us here in Davao and General Santos area we are lucky we have Lisa’s Meat. They have ground lean meat on the package already. They really have the best ground meat that I know so far. I tried Monterey Meat but their ground meat has so much fat in it. Whenever you cook you are not happy with the end result. One option too is getting the meat at your public market. Really know someone there that will give you a good meat. Get a good lean pork and let them ground the meat for you.
Gosh, the McCormick people will really love me. In my pantry you will find almost a hundred McCormick spices there. I think I almost have every spice they have in the grocery store. I am not bragging guys I just like to have it because we use it anyway. In my pantry we have so much ground or stick cinnamon. You know the reason for that, we used it for potpourri just in case we are cooking some Filipino dish that its not smelling good here. You know what I mean? ๐
Breakfast Sausage Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground pork (lean ground meat-luckily we have Lisa’s meat here)
- 1/2 tbsp iodized salt (I used Kosher salt)
- 1/2 tsp ground sage
- 1/3 tsp savory (I used oregano & thyme)
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2/3 tsp ground marjoram
- 1/3 tsp freshly ground pepper
Procedures:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Stuff into casings or make patties. For us here at the house I just make into patties. Freeze some for future use.
Good Biscuits:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 tbsp sugar (or use Splenda)
- 5 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/3 milk ( maybe add a little more)
- a dash of salt
Procedure:
*** Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush the baking sheets with melted butter. ***
Mix all the ingredients together.ย I used my hand to mix everything. Then the batter separately apart in the baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until some edge of the biscuits turn brown. Take out from the cookie sheet cut in half and put butter and jelly and serve with breakfast sausage or bacon or with ham . Biscuits and breakfast sausage with gravy too. Yummy
More recipe to dig into my cupboard to share with you guys. I hope you like this recipe. Please let me know if you ever try it. Have fun cooking and have fun eating.
Cheers!
Dave Keiser
Feyma, You are fantastic! I really miss sausage and biscuits here, I will have to run out and see if I can find these spices at our local food stores. They are sorely lacking sometimes of even the simplest spices. Thank You, my mouth is watering all ready!
Feyma
Hi Dave Keiser – Thank you. Where are you guys located here in the Philippines? If you ever have Gaisano Mall in your area, they pretty much carry all the McCormick products.
Good luck and have fun cooking.
Take care!

For Italian sausage just add garlic , fennel seed ,and anise to the ground pork recipe and kick it with some pasta ..
Feyma
Hi lenny2000 – I made some Italian sausage before too. Yes, really good with pasta. Also good with stuffing.
Thank you for sharing.
Take care!

Michael Holm
Feyma, this looks delicious !! Is it traditional filippino or part of your american heritage?
Michael
Feyma
Hi Michael Holm – Thank you… Both. American recipe with some Filipino twist to it. ๐

Thanks Feyma! That sounds yummy. I’ll have to see if we can duplicate that. Maybe I’ll bring some spices with me this visit.
Feyma
Hi Mark G. – You can copy it. Big supermarkets here in the Philippines pretty much carry lots of stuff from the West too. Better bring some spices if you are not sure you’ll have it in the place you are staying here in the Philippines.
Good luck and have fun cooking.
Take care!
Mark G.
No big supermarkets there in Calbayog City.

Feyma…looks emmmmmmmmmmmm very good. I like what in photos very much…and oh! thats a great idea on the potpourri when Bob is chowing down on a big durian fruit …
Feyma
Hi Dan – Thank you so much…. Hmmm, good idea. But shoot I like the smell of the durian when its open… Gosh, I might just save the potpourri for something else. ๐
Nice to see you here.
Take care!
Dan
Yes……Feyma if you like the smell of durian when open then good idea to save the potpourri for some thing else…..hahaha for some reason I did not think you like the smell of durian only Bob..

Oh so THAT’S what Americans mean by ‘biscuits’. In Australia, biscuits are cookies. Well I really like hash browns, but I think I’ll pass on the biscuits :).

Hi Feyma,
Sound yummy. I will have to run out and get the ingredients. A stove also. Just have to get a recipe for pork gravy now. I don’t like the sweet gravies here. Bring on more recipes. I really miss some foods from back home. Now I will have to teach my Asawa how to cook this.

BTW I won’t eat ground beef even from Lisa’s.
It’s best to buy sliced beef cubes at Lisa’s 220 pesos a kilo and grind it yourself.
Believe me its MUCH better!

Hi Feyma,
Here is a breakfast recipie I’d like to share with you. My mom made this all the time. Creamed fruit. Start off with a can of fruit cocktail (I always pick out the grapes, and add raisins instead) Add equal amount (1 can)of water, 1-1/2 cups of sugar, tsp of salt, and thicken it with cornstarch (I’m guessing a half cup)like a gravy. Boil until it is thick like a heavy gravy. You can even add some butter to give it some more depth. serve over toast or biscuits. Enjoy
Jade
Careful on all of that sugar:
1 cup = 770 cal. 1 1/2 cup = 1155 cal.
Otherwise it sounds delicious.
