I was told by my nieces and nephew that our next door neighbors are moving out. At first I said thank God for it. But I didn’t like when they told me that they are moving out but we think that they are leaving the dogs inside the place. I was shocked and didn’t believe it at first. Our house its just divided by a concrete wall against theirs so I really checked them out. And yeah, they did leave the dogs there and without food too. Gosh, I felt bad for the dogs. During mid-day our kids tried to give the dogs some food over the fence. The dogs are really happy about that. The kids are really complaining about it. How can these people leave their dogs without food or even water?
Really from the time that these people moved in next door I have heard them mistreating their dogs. Sometimes I could have screamed at them and tell them to be nice to their pets. The lady owner and their maid were nice to the dogs. The guy he would be nice sometimes especially if he’s not drunk. When he gets drunk he will kick or just totally be mean to the dogs. Lots of times we were tempted to call the animal control here in Davao and report them. I know its none of our business but its just not nice to see them being mean to their pets. Sometimes these dogs would get out of their gate and just be roaming around outside our gate too, its scary to get out because these dogs are really big.
These people they are not just so mean to their dogs they are also very loud people. They just would not care of other people. Even if its late at night and everybody were sleeping if they got home from somewhere else they would not be quiet and just would not be gentle in opening and closing their door, instead they will scream at each other and slamming doors, kick the dogs. They really are something. I just don’t understand those people. As if they can’t figure it out that during nighttime they should be quiet and calm down. Almost every night the guys were drunk and when they get home they would be loud and sometimes they’re fighting with each other. It’s normal to fight but just stay inside the house. Their are instances that the guy will be screaming in the middle of the night running outside by his undies and the dogs will be following him. We would be scared what if when he gets out and not looking at the road and he would be struck by a car or truck. It’s really scary sometimes.
Anyway, I was happy they moved out. I guess they finally got the dogs yesterday. They left the dogs there for 2 days, I think. With that 2 days I’ve never seen anyone came back and feed the dog. Those neighbors are foreigners from another Asian country.
Klaus
Feyma, OH MY GOD!!! I really don't like such people… Thanks a lot you are still feeding the dogs… Last time I was glad that Chi-Chi is doing well…
Mike
Hi Feyma ~ Nice to "meet" you and happy belated birthday! Your posts suggests to me I really need to check out the 'hood when I move to the Philippines because I am not sure I would be able to keep quiet with neighbors being abusive to dogs, or any animals for that matter. I would fear getting deported if I should witness this if the abuse was coming from a native.
Was hoping I would read you and Bob took the dogs, sadly these people came back to get them. I feel sorry for them, the dogs that is.
Bob
Hi Mike- It's pretty common for Americans to get vocal about situations like that, even get into somebody's face at times. You have to be real careful about that here, though, and the problems can be a lot bigger than getting deported. Causing somebody to lose face here can cost you your life. It is a very serious matter.
Mike
Hi Bob ~ This is why I love these blogs, while in no way will it be possible to know everything to expect once I arrive it should help a lot learning such things beforehand. In a case like this it is good to know they have animal control, hopefully they are a good outfit.
Mike
Bob ~ Can you fix my email address in the last post, I make a mistake.
Thanks
Bob
Hi Mike- No problem.
David B Katague
Hi Feyma and Bob! I hope you get a good neighbor this time. Is the house a rental property? Maybe you could talk to the landlord, so your past experience will not happen again!
john
I have seen the dogs at that place and seen the guy…I agree with you!!

Hi Feyma!
One of mine and Marie' s worries was what would become of our baby Tisoy the terrier when we return home. I have decided it is too complicated to ship him and I think he would have a heart attack because he would be so nervous traveling. This weekend we were happy to know that some of Maries friends from the Filipina gang here have discussed who would adopt him. My son teases that I care more for the dog than for him and I respond that he is a pretty good dog so what is your point? ha ha. Marie has always loved dogs but before never in the house. She is now amazed at how well trained Tisoy is and is prone to spoiling him more than me. We hope we can find a Boston terrier or a pug when we return to Gen-San.
Regards
Tom

Whew! that neighbor are so mean… poor dogs.. It's good you fed those dogs Ma'am Feym=) By the way just added this site to my blogroll. God bless you all!
feyma
Hi Klaus – Chi chi is really a spoiled dog. And she knows it too. ๐
Thanks for stopping by!
feyma
Hi Mike – Thank you so much for the greetings.
For you being a foreigner you have to be very careful on what to say with somebody here. Even if you are right, you could end up be the one to be blame. Just really careful. It's just my thought.
Thank you so much for stopping by! Take care!
feyma
Hi Honey – Good advice there for all of our readers. Thank you.
feyma
Hi David B Katague – I don't think the owner will really listen to us. They just want somebody to rent and give them money for their house.
Thank your for your thought. Take care and God bless!
feyma
Hi John – Yeah and I think you you've heard them being loud too. The dogs place its just next to Bob's office. You can see it there.
Thank you for stopping by my dear friend!
feyma
Hi Tom Ramberg – I hope Tisoy will love his new owner? I hope you will find a good Tisoy here in GenSan. Good luck.
Thank you for dropping by! Take care!
feyma
Hi Cidy – How are you? I'm glad those people are out now. They are loud and mean.
Anyway, hope to see you sometime in GenSan. Take care and God bless!
MIke (the other one)
although animal cruelty can happen anywhere, it is my observation that asian countries generally have far less respect for animals than the west…for the most part, pets is misspelled, it should be pests…
feyma
Hi MIke (the other one) – I think you are right on your observation. I don't know why is that a lot of people here don't really love their pets? I think people here just get used to it.
Take care!
Larry

I have noticed a lot more problems with the neighbors in the Philippines than in the states. Maybe it is because the houses are much closer in the RP or because I do not live in an apartment. Anyway that will be one thing to watch out for when I move to the RP. Guess paradise is not perfect. ๐
Cheryll Ann
I hope your nutty ex neighbors drop dead!
Better yet someone put them in a cage and don't fee dor water them for 2 days, NASTY NASTY PEOPLE!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
Are your neighbors from that Asian Country that seems to be taking over Davao?
Dan Mihaliak
Hi Feyma
I've noticed that most of the people that mistreat animals are not that friendly with humans either.
Phil R.
To bad about the dogs they should have a good home too …My wife Jess wants me to bring my dog – OATS to the islands too but i said NO he is too big weights 30 kilos and a meter in height…very big dog for the Philippines . the dogs in the pines look like my dog when he was a pup 8 weeks old ..hee hee….. "Dogs r cool " … Phil R.
Steve
Hi Feyma, I just read your blog about the dogs. As you know from before in previous blogs I have very strong feelings about the un-necessary cruetly that goes on towards dogs. To treat any living thing in such a terrible manner is totally beyond me. It sounds as though you will be much better off without those people living next door to you.
And I have to say, when John and I moved to Morning Side Heights, it was a vast improvement to where we resided before !!! But I will say no more about that!!
Miss you all and take good care.
Cons
Hi Fey, this is Cons ( Davao Animal Shelter). We should have reported them to
the police. It is already considered abandonment. It is now punishable by law.
I do believe that those who are cruel with animals are also hard in his dealings with humans.
Feyma
Hi Larry – I think you are right on that. Here a lot of the family live just next to each other (they call it COMPOUND). In a compound there might be like 6 houses.
Anyway, that's a Filipino way.
I agree paradise is not perfect. ๐
Feyma
Hi Cheryll Ann – How are you? When I wrote this column I was thinking about you. I know how much you care your dogs. I know seeing this column would make your blood boiling.
Thank god those people are out and the dogs was taken by somebody already.
Yes on your thought they are the unwanted people right now here in Davao. I think they went home to there home country I think.
Take care! Are you in town?
Feyma
Hi Dan Mihaliak – I think so. I agree you on that.
Thank you for stopping by!
Feyma
Hi Phil R. – Now the dogs had a good home already. I think a friend of theirs took care of the them.
A lot of the dogs here are tiny compared to the dogs there. Yes dogs are cool. We love dogs.
Thanks for your nice comment!
Feyma
Hi Steve – I know what you mean. We talked about that a lot. I think thats one thing you missed here! ;-)…. Kidding…
I really miss you a lot my dear. Hope you can visit again soon. You owe me for our cooking again. Next time stay longer here in Davao. Please…
Take care and God bless! Regards and love from Chris and Us.
Feyma
Hi Cons – Luckily they did get it. We are already thinking of doing that. At least my kids gave them some food.
Honestly we don't really talked to those people. Just not comfortable with them.
Thank you so much for your comment. Take care and God bless!
Jim Monreal
Your kids are blessed for taking care of the dogs. I hope you will not have that kind of neighbors again. If it happens again in the future, I will report them to the animal shelter, if I'm in your shoes. Good Luck!
Feyma
Hi Jim Monreal – Thank you so much. My kids really loves animals. I'm really happy that they do.
Yes, definitely we will report this kind of people that mistreat their pets. I think we will be having new neighbor soon. I saw new people coming next door and cleaning up the place. I do hope they are nice. I haven't meet them yet.
Thank you so much for the nice comment.
