A couple of weeks ago, I posted a blog here about the fact that I had finally ordered a Barong Tagalog. I decided to get one because a young man who is close to me, a very good friend, was getting married. I wanted to honor him by wearing a Barong Tagalog to his wedding, even though I had already told him that I would not be wearing one.
At the time I made that post, I promised to post a photo of myself wearing the Barong Tagalog here on this blog. Well…. here it is:
This is a shot of Feyma and I posing under some vine type flowers at the Wedding of Job and Liezl Oberio, which was held at Adela’s Garden up in the mountains of Toril, Davao City. It was a beautiful venue for the wedding!
My Barong was made by Bamba C. Limon, Fashion Atelier, designer and consultant on Bonifacio Street, Davao.

My wife and I said Very sweet picture of the both of you. Your wife looks very shy. Just like honeymooners according to my wife!!!
AmericanLola
Lovely picture of you both! Is it still a Barong Tagalog if it short sleeved? Or is it a Polo Barong? Can Feyma tell us?
Bob
Hi Don – Feyma is as far from shy as you can get! She was so shy when I married her, but now she is very outgoing! Ha ha…
Hi AmericanLola – Ah… Tina did mention that a short sleeve Barong is called Polo Barong. The designer who made it for me called it a Barong Tagalog, though. I know for sure, though that I will never wear a long sleeved Barong, so that's as close as I'll get! It's a perfect balance between showing respect for Filipino customs, and also remaining somewhat comfortable! 😉
Tina
Hi Bob,
Beautiful and romantic 😉 picture of you both! Yes, the short-sleeved Barong is what's commonly called Polo Barong. The designer did a little variation from the traditional. Looks good! Thanks for sharing and please say hello to Feyma. Shy? I don't think so 🙂
Bob
Hi Tina – Thanks for your comment. Thanks also for your compliment on the Barong. I like the Barong though, and I am going to start wearing it more often – to meetings and lunches and such.
Tina
Hi Bob,
I think that's a great idea!
Pete
Hi Bob, sweet pic of you and Feyma, Feyma does look cute hahahhaha …and shy ? hmmmm you know bettter dont you Bob
Bob
Hi Pete – Thanks for your nice words!
Yadni
Ha-ha-ha! Feyma does look shy! (or should I say Ate Feyma?) Yes, the barong looks good on you. My husband and I got married in an episcopal church in Maryland on February seven years ago. Guess what he wore? YEs, barong tagalog, the real one – long sleeve; and on winter! I didn't ask him though, it was his liking, and he provided the 4 groomsmen the BT also. Well, he's African (naturalized American), so he's into this native outfit. And since you mentioned the couples' name, the groom's brother was my high school classmate!
Bob
Hi Yadni – Were you the classmate of Russel? I know him. I believe that Job has one other brother that I don't know too.
Good luck to you and your husband! Maybe we can all meet someday.
Yadni
Yes, it's him. And yes, I really hope we can meet someday. Hopefully next year!

Hi bob! How’s your Barong? I read your blog about Bamba C. Limon. Now he made the barong of the Son of President Duterte in inauguration 2016.
