I wanted to take a moment to post a quick “Thank You” to Rico, of the Bayanihan Blog Network. Rico posted a nice review of this website today on their blog. I really enjoyed reading what they had to say, and it was such a positive review of the site, it really humbled me!
Also, I would like to offer a warm welcome to anybody who comes by from reading that review to pay us a visit! You are most welcome here, and your views and opinions would be great, if you care to share those!
So, thanks again to Rico, and also thanks to all of those who read and participate on this blog! It is the people who comment and kick off nice discussions that really help make this Blog into what it is! So, thanks to you too!

Hi Bob,
Congratulations! Your blog indeed has come a long way in providing great and informative posts/articles on living in our beautiful country. Add to that, I always find this blog akin to a very long movie/tv series review, but the movie/tv series is about "living in the Philippines".
More power again to you and the writers here.
Bob
Thank you, Jio! I was really happy with the review, because it really nothing but good to say! It made me feel good! 😆
Thank for your vote of confidence too!

Hi Bob – great review. Well done.
Bob
Thanks, Marilou! 🙂

I agree! Unlike other forum owners, I think Bob and Feyma have souls, and they genuinely care about Philippines. And they want to help other expats live well in Philippines.
If I could make a suggestion, perhaps Bob can write a comprehensive book on LIVING IN DAVAO. Any book that attemps to write about living in Philippines is a generalized version of living in Philippines (they just skim the surface), thus not so detailed/helpful. This is because each region is very different.
If you were to write a book on LIVING IN DAVAO (not Mindanao, because again it would be generalized), undoubtedly it would be detailed and comprehensive. And you can sell in on-line as eBook! If it proves to be successful, you can write about Living in Bohol, etc. etc. But you will probably not want to move from Davao? 😉
p.s. if it proves to be successful, don't forget to give me a commission?

Congratulations Bob and Feyma!… I agree with all the commentators about your blog Bob. This is the first one of all the blogs and discussion board I visited that is very reasonable(with people who accepts corrections, clarification and make peace with each other) very diverse & respectful on diferences of different people and cultures (with the exceptions of your Authors contributor blogs too e.g Julius which I like too). Like Jae mentioned "Unlike other forum owners, I think Bob and Feyma have souls, and they genuinely care about Philippines. And they want to help other expats live well in Philippines". Very well said Jae, Bob and Feyma monitored their site well and if clarification calls he does it with good heart and giving the right information with the intention of helping expats live well and harmoniously back there. Which I really like. Insults are avoided.
Just last night, I visited an old forum I frequented before and I got insulted with the thread a guy posted and nobody clarify it. The thread goes like this,"People are starving here ( he meant philippines) &
living like animals the govt. does not care. They will let the people here
go to some foreign country to work & send money back here to the
familys who will spend the money on alchoic drinks or drugs or big TV sets
while living in places they call houses made of tin & plywood along
the side of the roads."
As a Filipino, this is very insulting words to me. I wonder what others would think about this non-Filipino and specially Filipinos.
Bob
Hi Mahdy – Thank you very much for everything you said! I appreciate it greatly.
It's funny – just a while ago I was trying to think of subjects to write about, and was browsing through some of the various Philippine Online groups. I saw the very thread that you mentioned! Small world! 😆 Obviously, I didn't write about that one!

All the best Bob! I totally agree about Jae's comment ' I think Bob and Feyma have souls, and they genuinely care about Philippines' – Jae , good suggestion about the 'LIVING in Davao – book'.

Hello Bob, LOL you visited that group too. I think a couple of us here in your site are in that group. I know its not you who posted that insulting thread I mentioned. His name starts with S. I haven't visited that group for a long time because of that very nature of posting everyone ends up thinking to themselves "I'm right , your wrong; I'm better, your not" kind of discussion. Worse though on the 3 other previous groups which I cancelled my member ship. One of which has a lot of members who only frequented Pinas because of Bars. You can guess what my reaction on some of the threads. The other one has a discussion about relatives, non extended and extended ones, who over stayed in the foreign husband and his wife’s' house and has become aggressive, lazy and as if he owns the house. I shared a simple solution the word "palayasa or lumayas ka" and that it is not unusual in Pinas to say this. The owner of the site demanded to me to apologize to a couple because the Filipina wife got hurt at my words as Don said the wife says there is no such thing as “Lumayas ka!” behavior in Pinas 😉 . Furthermore, Don emphasized that the wife says that Filipinos don't say that especially to their love ones hehehehe. I didn’t realize that word or angry remark has gone extinct. Before I left the Philippines I’m sure it is still there. I guess no one really uses that word even when both Filipinos quarrel:???:. Maybe only Filipinos are exclusively allowed to use it, LOL, I'm not aware of that either. Oh well, I left the group after the email I received from the owner.
Sorry this is a long thread again.
Bob
Hi Mary Grace – Thanks for your nice comment!
Hi Mahdy – I visit those groups from time to time, but I never post anything. It's been at least 2 years since I posted to any of the groups. I only go there if I am having trouble thinking about something to write about here, and just to get ideas of what is being talked about!

"I agree! Unlike other forum owners, I think Bob and Feyma have souls, and they genuinely care about Philippines. And they want to help other expats live well in Philippines."
Exactamente Jae!
Bob
Thank you again, Rico!

Dear Bob,
This is the very first time to enter in you blog and would appreciate very much your concern about the Philippines not to mention DIGOS. Our roots are from CEBU but, I was born in PASAY CITY (Manila). During those days, I was not myself then, not until I found out the truth that I was just an orphan and my real family is somewhere in the VISAYAS. To my surprise when my mother died (at first I didn't know that she is my real mother) until I received a message from our cousins who took care of my mom when is already sick, that my biological mother is somewhere in MINDANAO, to be exact in DIGOS CITY.
I am working right now in Saudi Arabia for about 13 years. The very first time I saw my biological mother, with whom she had already married to a third man with 5 siblings, and from the second husband with 1 child and of course from the first husband of which I was their child, I don't know as of this time the real truth about her lovelife. Anyhow, why bother… I went on vacation summer of 2000, I saw them welcoming me with open hearts and arms) and from then on when I found out that DIGOS is a progressive City and a nice place to live with (our house is near to the sea in Aplaya Chapter 4) I was thinking of staying there for the rest of my life and putting up a business, whenever I retire.
Thanks for showing your love, respect, care, truthfullness to my KABABAYANs who dearly loved you also.
I will go on vacation next year February to be exact, in time for my biological mother's birthday.
Thanks a lot and GOD BLESS!
Bob
Hi Bubot Concepcion – Thank you for your kind words! I hope you enjoy your trip back home next year!
