I’m not talking about shoes! Do you know what Adidas are? Any Filipino would know this for sure, but I wonder how many of our foreign readers know what they are? I’ll give you a clue, it’s a type of street food that you can find in the Philippines.
For the first person who can guess what it is, I’ll give you a free subscription to this blog! Ha ha… I know, it’s free anyway, but I’m just kidding with you.
Also, in the comments, what other types of street food can you tell us about that are using funny names?
Ohhh… I know what Adidas is! But I guess I should as I'm Filipino. Nope, I don't eat Adidas though. Other Pinoy street food that have funny names (to me at least) are Betamax, Tokneneng, Kwek-Kwek and Helmet! 😀

Maybe the two most interesting nicknames for street food are, "Betamax" and "IUD". Most people in the states won't remember that Sony Betamax Tapes were the original VCR tapes. The streetfood by that name is roasted chicken blood. The rectangles they are cut from resemble a Betamax.
IUD is a snack of a little jumble of chicken intestines. The coil of intestines resembles the birth control device called IUD.

When I was visiting my wife's village I was given "number one soup". I had no idea what was in it, but judging by the grins on my companions faces it was something different. I asked my wife and she replied "you don't wanna know". I still don't know what was in it.

Chicken feet (no, I don't eat it). I think we have that here too, in Chinatown, I see that being served when we go for dimsum. I'm not sure if they also serve duck feet, I think they do. We have a standing joke that all the chicken in Chinatown are on crutches because of this dish. 🙂 Have they tried this on "Fear Factor" yet? I think they should, including the rest of the stuff! Ha-ha-ha!

Yes, I did try Dinuguan once. It is not on my "favorites" list, though!
I haven't heard of soup no1 but I had soup no5 and that's braised umm beef dork if you know what I mean. I've had balut on a number of occasions and I like it. I can get entertaining when I have had some red horse with my impersonations of the street vendor calls.
Hi Louis – I have been told that No. 1 soup is made with bovine testicles. Those are widely eaten in the Western USA. We call them "Rocky Mountain Oysters."
