OK, ok… I’ve done it! A number of people have been after me to get on Twitter, and I finally joined the other day! If you want to follow me, my name on Twitter is MindanaoBob. If you are a Twitter member, put me on your follow list, and I’ll add you to mine as well.
For those who are not on Twitter yet, what is it? Well, Twitter is usually described as a “micro-blogging” platform. Basically, you can go to Twitter and sign up for the service. It is for short messages sent over the Internet. Frankly, I find it to be like Texting on a cellphone (Tweets are limited to 140 characters similar to a text message). Usually, you would direct your tweet (a message sent on Twitter is called a “tweet”) to another person, although you can also do a general “broadcast” of a message.
There are thousands, probably more, people on Twitter. You can “follow” people, in which case their messages will be visible on your screen, or you can follow the public posts, in which all publicly posted tweets will be visible to you.
Twitter is an interesting application. I’m going to try it out and I’ll stick with it if I like it. As of now, I predict that I’ll be tweeting for some time to come!
If you are on Twitter – Tweet me! I’ll be watching for your tweet.

I have been on Twitter for a while now but was not using it. I went back and found lots of folks following me … I added you, Bob, looks like an interesting tool in some ways, although I still think a smart IM like yahoo messenger is a much, much better tool.
You made me laugh with your descriotion of yourself on Twitter … you call yourself an Ex-Pat. In our house we always write it expat … Pat is my first wife's name and for various reasons _she_ is always referred to as Ex-Pat around here LoL

Bob,
I also just started Twitter last week. I'm following about 25 others in the education field. It's a lot of fun but I'm spending too much time with it. My wife says I have to get away from the computer hehe. I'll give you a tweet. http://twitter.com/kevtech

Hi Dave – I don't do IM at all, I refuse to do it because it is a time waster. You have to sit there real time and chat with somebody. With Twitter, there is a bit of a difference in that you don't have to be at the computer at the time you are chatting. Also, it's important to use a good Twitter client, not do it on the web where you have to keep refreshing and such. With a Twitter client, you get notified anytime a tweet comes through from somebody you are following. It saves a lot of time compared to IM. Also, you can have your incoming tweets sent to your cellphone for selected people, if their tweets are that important to you. Ha ha.. the ex-pat thing is funny.
Hi Kevin Smith – Nice to catch you on Twitter. I'm like you, I spend way too much time on my computer! 😡
