I feel humbled

This will be just a short post, but I want to acknowledge an award which I was given last night.  Last night, December 3, 2011, was the Luzon award session, and National awards of the 2011 Philippine Blog awards.

A few months ago, during the nomination process of the Philippine Blog awards, I was nominated for this site, Live in the Philippines, under the National category of Filipiniana.  There were 12 finalists in the category, including this site.  Much to my surprise, I woke up this morning and found that I had won!

This is my second time to win a Philippine Blog award.  In 2009, I won the “Digital Tribe” award for Mindanao for my Mindanao Magazine site.  That was sort of a “special award” which did not involve voting.  The Digital Tribe award was sponsored by Globe Telecommunications.

When I was nominated for the Filipiniana category by my friend, Cathy, I didn’t think that I had any chance to win.  Frankly, I thought “do you really think the Philippine Blog Awards will give an award for Filipiniana to a foreigner?”  Well, I was wrong!  I am surprised and very pleased to see that these awards can be won by a foreigner like me, and I take back my thoughts that it could not happen.

I’d like to thank the Philippine Blog Awards for their recognition, and I’d also like to thank the thousands of readers who come and visit this site every day, and participate in the community here.  This site is very important to me, and so is the group of community members who frequent this site.

Also a special thanks, and a share of the award to all of the LiP writers who write and bring enjoyable and entertaining content to the readers here!  I couldn’t get it done without the writers!

    I’m still catching up with all the postings on LiP. This site has been very infomative to me. In a few years, my asawa and I will be moving to Southern Leyte to spend the rest of or lives with family. I am so looking forward to this part of my life. I have been in RP many times during my career in the US Navy and also on vacations. I stumbled on your website a week ago and I have found that the information that all of your writers put out is so very interesting and worth studying for a future expat. Congratulations on your achievment and keep up the good work. Thanks a million…..
