Today we got a comment and question from Marv.
Here is what Marv had to say:
hey bob,
was wonderin if i still have to go back home to australia if my dual citizenship has already been approved? i’m a natural born filipino and both my parents are of filipino citizenship at the time when i was born.
i used to live here in the philippines ’til i was 11 and moved to australia, which then resulted me in acquiring my australian citizenship through naturalisation.
i’m in the process of submitting all my requirements to the BI for recovering my filipino citizenship back and i’m wonderin if i still have to go back to australia cos the visa i have is only for 1 year – and i used my australian passport (as my filipino one has already expired) to travel here in the first place.
my other question is, if i do have to get out of philippines, is it necessary for me to go back to my country of origin? or can i just go to a nearby country? places like malaysia or singapore, etc.? cos i’m planning to just pay the fines for overstaying and just wait ’til my dual citizenship has been approved, then apply for a filipino passport so that i can use that to fly out of philippines and travel back here with it – which would mean that i could stay in here for as long as i like right?
if you have any better advices, please do share
thanks for the time bob..
have a good one!
And here is Bob’s response to Marv:
Hi Marv – If you are a dual citizen you can stay in the Philippines or Australia as long as you want, since you are a citizen of each country.
When you leave the Philippines, you can go anywhere you wish to go, not only to Australia.
Thank you for visiting, Marv, and good luck.
