It’s just the beginning of November but it’s already decorated Christmas here in our house. Before I mostly decorate the house the day after Thanksgiving. I know most people here in the Philippines decorate their houses during the beginning of September or late August. I guess I just went with the flow with the style here in the RP. I am decorating the house early now. I decided to decorate the house early November. I want to decorate at this early because during this time the kids had semestral break for a few days. In honor of All Souls and All Saints Day. See our kids here especially college students have sem-break during end of October until mid of November for college. Some high schools and grade schools, they maybe have like a week off. But Ateneo grade school and high school just a few days off though, just the 2 days off not including the weekend.
So while my niece who is in college is on the sem-break I have to get the opportunity to let her helped me decorate the house. She already knew from years of living with us on how I like to decorate the house. While in the middle of decorating and all of a sudden I had to go somewhere to meet up somebody or had some activity to attend to at the kids school, at least she already had an idea how and where to put the decor into. When I come home from somewhere I just had to make a small adjustments of the arrangement or something. She’s been a big help to me together with our helpers.
We decided to lower the amount of Christmas lights that we put in our tree now. We did put like 5000 pieces in our tree before. But the lights went off because of our good and friendly cats. They like to play under the Christmas tree and climb on the branches. Of course some of the bulbs of the lights fell off. One Christmas all our lights just went off, to find out our kitties were pulling the wires of our Christmas lights and the Christmas tree garland. Gosh, I could have strangled them. Ha ha ha.. But I love those cats that we have. So now I got lessons from the past. Better not put that much decor at the lower part of the Christmas tree. For the past few years I had just been decorating our Christmas tree only. But the kids wanted me to decorate the whole house now. I did and they liked it a lot.
This is the first time that my helpers saw the Dickens Village decors. They really are in awe of all the decors I had in the house. It’s new to them to have so many Christmas decors. It fascinates them that I also had trees and snow with it. That’s also something that made me decorate more with my kids love the spirit of Christmas when the house were filled with decors and also seeing the eyes of my helpers sparkle looking at the new stuff they are seeing at our house. Plus its really nice watching in the evening the decor that we had put in the house. It’s all worth the while. We also decorated with Christmas lights outside in our pine tree that I had planted 12 years ago in the big pot. It looks like a big Christmas tree outside. Pretty cool.
So are you itching to decorate ladies? lol… Nah… It’s not the typical style there in the West. For you Filipina’s that lives abroad just enjoy and watch the shows on the Filipino Channel there. Artists here already singing Christmas songs. You will also see the studios or places they featured already had lots of Christmas decors.
Have fun decorating you guys!!!
***On the other note: We had other excitement this year for Christmas too. I will tell you more about it next week!***

Very beautiful decorations Feyma. Things like this bring back memories of when I was a child and we would decorate our house. We always had a real tree back then and would decorate it on Christmas eve. In recent years though it seems Christmas kind of sneaks up on me like all of a sudden It’s Christmas !
In speaking of Christmas, it is never too early to mention the annual ” Mindanao Bob Christmas Drive ”
I have just returned from another excellent vacation visiting Iligan City. The signs of Christmas were there too, along with Halloween decorations in some of the places I visited.
At the moment I am still trying to get over the Jet-Lag !

Thank you Bob. It’s good that my post made you think back of the days when you were a kid. The good old days… Talking of the real tree, I really missed it. We used to have it when I was there in the States. But unfortunately me and Chris has an allergy with it. So we have to change to a fake tree. Dang it…
True “MindaClause” will be very busy this Christmas. We are excited for it. Hopefully we can help out lots more people this year too. So I guess I will start to ask people now here to help out our LIP DRIVE. Thanks in advance to our contributors here.
I’m glad you had a great trip here. Get some rest then and enjoy the rest of the year. I hope you and family are not affected by Sandy there.
Have a pleasant day and God bless!

it looks very pretty Feyma. I used to really enjoy decorating for Christmas but never had anything as fancy as yours is. I have not had a tree or decorations now for 12 christmas’s and the last 5 my son and I have not left home or been able to celebrate in anyway. I do hope when we get to the Phls and find our “new family” my Christmas spirit will return in my heart. thanks for sharing your pics with us. Your house looks beautiful.
Feyma
Hi donna – Thank you so much. I really appreciate a lot. I really enjoyed decorating, one of my hobbies in life. Bob and I collected those decors through the years. I really like the decors made by Fitz & FLoyds and Department 56. They will make one decor and in a few years it will retire. So at the end it kind of like an antique piece then.
Hey, when you guys decide to move here, you might have the desire to decorate early then. Seeing how alive the malls and other places here even just the beginning of September. You might got the hang of it. lol.
Thank you again for the compliment. Hopefully that will make you decide to decorate your house soon. 🙂
Have a wonderful day to you!

Hi Feyma, you have been busy. Lovely pictures. I have always loved Christmas time, but the decorations will have to wait until December before they come down from the loft. I am back to going OTT with the decs using the the Grandkids as an excuse.
With the grey days we have here, we need cheering up lol.
Feyma
Hi marjorie – Thank you so much. I’m thinking you will be decorating soon. Your grandkids might made you do it early. Ha ha ha… Just guessing here. My kids really enjoyed seeing the decors now. They loved it. They are now waiting for the Thanksgiving festivities though, they are nos excited for that event.
Have a pleasant day Marj. Have fun with your grand kids. Take care!

Nice! I clicked on all the pics Christmas Carol city like Dickens display and it’s lovely!
Feyma
HI sugar – Thank you. I liked the different displays of Dickens village. It’s just a bit spendy though if buying one time. Just have to collect the pieces slowly. Bob and I collected the pieces of Dickens’ Village Series by Department 56. It’s been a long time that the pieces that we have already retired I’m sure. I haven’t seen any for sale of Department 56 pieces here in the Philippines. So for now we can just do of what we have.
Good to see you here Sugar. Thank you for appreciating my decors. Have a good day!

Hey Donna, that’s really good to hear though. Hope you will have a good Holiday season coming up!!!
Cordellero Cowboy
Thanks for that article, Feyma. Now I know why my wife gets anxious to decorate so early! Lately, we’ve been spending our holidays in the Philippines, so we don’t decorate much here stateside. But she has also collected lots of decorations that she loves. Many of them came from our time in Europe. Keep spreading the Christmas cheer!
Take care,
Pete
Feyma
Hi Cordellero Cowboy – Thank you so much. How fun on your time here in the RP. Maybe me and your wife had the same Christmas decor collections. She should keep collecting while there in the States. It’s hard to find some of the decor that I had collected in the States here in the RP. Maybe in Manila they carry those Department 56 the series that I had and the Fitz and Floyd.
Good to see you here. Have a good weekend!
PapaDuck
Mrs Feyma,
You did a great job with the decorations. I was getting into the christmas spirit on my recent visit to the Philippines. Everyone there does a great job of decorating for the holidays and getting into the spirit. Take care
Feyma
Thank you so much PapaDuck. People here really starts the spirit of the holiday season so early. I guess as the slogan of the RP says It’s more fun in the Philippines. Ha ha ha,,, just go with the flow. lol.
As always nice to see you here PapaDuck. Take care and God bless!
