Well, it’s Sunday morning here in the Philippines, but still Saturday for many of you who read this site! Saturday is a time for being festive and enjoying life. Sunday morning is a time for resting, maybe sleeping in. For those of you who are still on Saturday, check the video below, it will be a party on your screen. If it’s already Sunday where you are, check the video too, it will help you get moving on a Sunday morning! Either way, no matter what day it is where you are, you will enjoy the video, I am sure of that! I know that I did!
Will 2013 be your year to move to the Philippines and put a little fun into your life? You can do it if you really want to!
Paul Thompson
Bob;
“It’s more fun in the Philippines” is the best tourist promotion that I’ve seen so far. I only hope they are showing it around the world instead of just here in the Philippines. If I was sitting in Bugtussel Arkansas and saw that video I know it would get me thinking about a vacation here in the RP. Very well done!
MindanaoBob
Hi Paul – Indeed, “It’s more fun” has turned into a pretty effective campaign, I’d say. Kudos to the DoT for that, because they sure had a long run of unsuccessful campaigns before this one! Yeah, if I was sitting anywhere in the world where there is snow on the ground, I’d be on the next plane after seeing that video! 😆

Really liked the video–copied the address & pasted it on face book comment and it came up-Thanks Bob.
MindanaoBob
Glad you liked it, my friend!

That video made me want to come sooner, and I already wanted to leave YESTERDAY!!!!
The day can’t come soon enough for me, and my wife is starting to get the bug to leave now that the cold has really hit our area.
One day at a time, and sooner than we realize it, we’ll be there. 🙂
MindanaoBob
Hi Scott – The day will come! Hang in there, my friend!
Gary
It is cold here too Scott… 75 degrees and rain… Brrrrrr. Hahaha!!! 😛
MindanaoBob
Yep, cold and wet today!
Robert J.
20 below, windchill -30 tonight, even colder in outstate Mn. with a little fresh snow thrown in. I’ll take 75 and wet.
MindanaoBob
Ha ha.. I can hear you on that, Robert! I am glad I am in the Philippines!
Dick Schaefer
It is more fun in the Philippines for sure! After being here for almost a year now I can say with all sincerity that I made the right move. Even though I love the USA and specifically Arizona I am not regretting my move to the Philippines. Things had become a bit dull and uninteresting (my fault) as a single retired guy I was getting bored and was ready for a change of scenery. Coming to the Philippines changed all that, I met a really nice lady and have traveled the PI extensively. I have found the people here to be more friendly, more accommodating and even with a culture vastly different than the US I am not having much trouble adjusting. You just have to have some patience to go with the flow, not get too excited when things don’t go as planned, adjust to Filipino time and be ready to adapt to change. I would recommend the Philippines to anyone wanting some new adventure in their lives and forget about all the nonsense you hear about third world conditions and fear of getting beheaded or kidnapped. As with anywhere else you must be aware of your surroundings, do your homework on where you want to go and keep an open mind.
MindanaoBob
Hi Dick – Glad to hear that you feel that your move was the right one! Mine was too, no doubt about it!
Greg
hope they promote it here in Australia … most news here in oz about the Philippines normally revolves around their natural disasters or kidnappings … I for one have already directed my tourist dollars from Thailand to RP and will be making my second trip next month … I am already converted … cheers all
MindanaoBob
That is true, Greg, I think everybody seems to only hear the bad news! Too bad! Enjoy your trip!
Loren Pogue
Yea, right Gary “75 degrees “. Temperature has not been above freezing here in Delta Colorado for over 20 days now. If we had any SMB’s we could just leave them outside until ready to pop the top, and they would stay very cold.

Hi Bob – That’s a great video. “300 YEARS IN A CONVENT AND 50 YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD”, that sums it all, haha. Really good tourism campaign of DOT. Thanks for sharing Bob. If I may add, here’s a link to one of those DOT promotions titled Lover’s TV Commercial 30s:

From hanging off of a Zipline 300 Ft high off the ground, Singing in a foreign language and dancing in a stadium like setting in front of a live audience, Riding in a lead vehicle of an official motorcade, Giving talks at at schools and universities, enjoying some of the most beautiful sights and sounds of nature, enjoying a 36 inch diameter pizza, an in-person meeting with what I would consider a modern day National Icon, experiencing a wide variety of food preparations I had not known about before, personal involvement in community projects, enjoying tropical and local beverages of all kinds and most significant of all, meeting and learning of people and their culture in another part of the world I had never experienced before. All of this and a lot more have been ” More Fun In The Philippines ” for me. You can read about many of my ” More Fun ” experiences in my Guest Articles here on ” LIP ” and More Fun articles that will follow in the future. Without a doubt, the best vacations I have ever had !
MindanaoBob
Hi Bob – Our of all of the people I have been in contact with over the years, I would say that given your various experiences that you have reported to us here, you have had more fun in the Philippines than anybody else than I have ever heard of! They need to do a photo with a picture of you and saying – “BobNY – He has more fun in the Philippines!”
Congratulations on that, Bob!
PapaDuck

I really enjoyed that video, it is a very well put together promotional advertisement.
2013 is the year we are moving to the Philippines, and I can not wait for it…. Not much longer now. Right now it is cold and very wet & damp weather, thats really making my joints hurt, it is a medical condition I have had most of my life, however now it is starting to really affect my movement, ever since I moved here to the UK 4 years ago, the cold damp is really taking its toll.
The hot humid weather in the Philippines really ease my joints and make me feel much more mobile with a LOT less pain!
The moving process for us has started, as we have been going up in the attic to see what to keep and what to sell or donate…. The un-cluttering of my life feels good, unloading so much junk. Tomorrow I am gonna start looking at shipping companies to start geting costs. Today I am writing an article about the start of our process. Maybe I will submit it to the site? That ok Bob?
Anyway thanks for sharing, take care.
MindanaoBob
Good luck with your move, Bilko! I hope everything goes smoothly for you! Yes, I would be happy to publish your article about the process, Bilko! Just send it to me, I believe you have my e-mail address, right?
Bilko
Actually I lost it when I formatted my system, if you could shoot it over to me again that would be ideal. I should be sending you something today or tomorrow in regards to the article. Thanks again.

Wow…finally, a good quality HD video. I like it!
MindanaoBob
It certainly is a good one, Jim!
Bret
Thanks for the video and song. While my wife and I watched TV one night there was a very short commercial for the Phils tourism and played a clip of the song. I did try to find it on youtube but had no luck. I am getting things in order to start a blog and have the domain and looking to contact you for the start up you have on your pages. I am kicking around some ideas for it besides my journey and wife coming here and our return and future life there.
MindanaoBob
Hi Bret – Sounds like you are very busy laying your plans, and getting ready for the big move! Good luck, I hope that everything works out for the best for you and your wife!

I like it! We’ve been back stateside from our annual pilgrimage for just a couple of weeks now. The last event we attended was a lunch with some local officials and a Phil-Am expat group. Except for me, all were balikbayans who have retired to the RP after a career in the US. The main topic of conversation was promoting tourism in the local area and the infrastructure needed to support it. That is a really good add. But, there’s lots to do in some areas to make the business sustainable.
Take care,
Pete
MindanaoBob
You sure are right, Pete, there is always lots to do, plenty of work to be done. Anybody who sits around and doesn’t work ends up falling behind his competitors! That happened to the Philippines when it comes to tourism, and now the country has to work double hard to catch up! I think they are moving in the right direction!
Jem
Hi Bob,
It feels good watching the video on your website. It is a great feeling, too that you guys are proud of what we have here in Pinas. I hope every Filipino would be as proud and all negativities about our country be washed away.
I’ve been following your website for quite a while now but this is the first time I posted a comment. I hope to read more from you. Nice work! 🙂
MindanaoBob
Hi Jem – Well, thank you for finally commenting, I appreciate that a lot!
There are pluses and minuses in the Philippines, just like any other country in the world. No place is perfect, for sure. But, overall, for me, the Philippines has a lot more pluses than minuses, that’s why I enjoy living here!
Jem
Davao is a great place. I went there for a 4 day vacation in March 2012. My first time to reach Mindanao. Lots of nice places. I spent a day in Samal. The rest of the days were spent around Davao City and the place where Eden Park is. It was worth the travel from Manila to Davao. 🙂
MindanaoBob
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Davao, Jem! It’s a great place to vacation!
