I am not a shoe addict. I just want something that I can wear comfortably. I don’t wear high heels, the most heels that I’ve worn occasionally, that would be 2 inches, 3 inches at the most. So in short I’m looking for flat shoes. I am a sandals or flip flops kind of girl. Lately I’ve been really looking for more comfortable shoes, so I was shopping at Naturalizer shoe store. I used to wear the Naturalizer brand. They are lightweight with excellent support. I often have foot pain, but not with these shoes. I love these shoes. Over the years I have been trying other brands too. Some brands are comfortable, some are not.
Lately I have been having problems in my heel. So Bob told me to get a good and comfortable shoes. Immediately I was looking at the Naturalizer brand. SM Ecoland used to have Naturalizer store. I guess they just closed the store early this year. They have Naturalizer in Abreeza mall. So a week or so ago I went there. I heard on the radio that they had sale of up to 70% off. So I went to see if I can get a good deal there. I was so disappointed when I went there, yeah they had the 70% off only on the high heeled shoes. The heels were like 4-5 inches just guessing the height. Geez how can I walk on that? Plus it will make my foot more painful.
While shopping at Abreeza I was happy finding another store and another brand, its by Aerosoles. First time seeing the brand here. I went in and tried some of the sandals and I felt it so comfortable too, just like the Naturalizer. I didn’t buy right away, I told my daughter that I have to check the brand out on-line and read the reviews on that brand. It’s not a cheap shoes too. Similar price with the Naturalizer. When I get home and look at the internet, I saw good reviews. So I will check good sales with both brands when I’m ready to buy.
For running shoes, I felt had a pretty good one. It’s comfortable to wear. I got that half price thankfully. It was an expensive shoes. One of the problem for me finding shoes, I have a wide foot and high in-step. If any of you had the same problem with me, I will not be surprise if you had to go to a lot of shops before finding the right shoes. Good thing Davao and the rest of the country already has so many malls that carry good brands from other countries. Thank God for that. They even have here those super ridiculously expensive shoes that were endorsed by the NBA stars. I always called them “The eye popping highly price shoes”. Ain’t buying those for sure.
My kids have a big problem also shopping for shoes. My oldest Chris wears size 13, Aaron & Jared our youngest wears size 12 (American size). I’m more worried about Jared later though, because he is just 14 years old and he already wears a size 12. How much more when he will be like Aaron’s age? For his school shoes I am ordering to be made by a shoe company here in the city. A friend suggested to have it made here locally. But for the tennis shoes I had to search the whole malls here in the city to find the shoe that fits him. Jared’s problem also he has wide foot and high in-step. He got that from Bob and my side of the family. Thank God I don’t have shoe problems with our girls.
If malls don’t have it in stock, I can easily have my friend get it for me in Manila. For sure lots of places to get shoes in Manila. So for any of you that have some concerns about shoes for bigger foot, there’s hope now for everybody finding a good shoes here in the Philippines. Too many good brand from other countries that’s for sale here. Just have your wallet ready. 😉
Have fun shopping!

Feyma,
I am taking the liberty of replying to you in your search for comfortable flat shoes. I highly recommend a shoe brand, handmade in Cebu, the owners are good friends of mine, The name of their brand: Oh Love. check them out, have read testimonials from friends who ordered them, as far as the UK, and they confirm it is the MOST comfortable flat shoes you can have. The good thing, they are reasonably priced, as they are made locally, in Cebu. Let me know what you think.
Have a wonderful week, Keep cool.
Vivien,
I am based in Chicago, IL.
Feyma
Hi Vivien – Thank you for the good info. Definitely I’m going to check that store that you’re talking about. Good thing it’s made locally. I don’t have to search abroad for it.
*** The good thing, they are reasonably priced *** — That’s a big plus. 🙂
I really appreciate you shared your thoughts. Thank again & have a great day!
Jade
Hi Femya,
I have a wide high arch size 12 foot. And I agree with you big shoes in PI are hard to find. But careful looking does pay off.
Daisy has regular small Philippines feet but for her not so much a problem. But she takes 10x more time than me to find a pair of shoes. VIVA LA DIFERENCE!

Feyma
Hi Jade – Honestly you can find anything in the Philippines nowadays. With your measurement, I’m pretty sure Merrel or Columbia brand has your size. Just have to search for it. I’m pretty sure if it’s not available in the province, Manila definitely have it.
*** But she takes 10x more time than me to find a pair of shoes. *** — Ha ha ha… It’s a woman thing. Go figure. LOL
Good to see you here again. Have a pleasant day!

I brought several extra pairs of running shoes and sandals knowing it may be difficult to find them here. Ordered them on line and got a good price. Running shoes are Under armour and sandals are by Keene. They are both light and are good for this type of weather.
Feyma
Hi PapaDuck – Good for you. I will check out the brand that you’re talking about. Sounds like a comfy shoes. Thank you for sharing your info.
You in the Philippines now? Hello to Ann for me.
Always good to see you here. Have a wonderful day!

Feyma,
What a timely post! I have been wondering what kind of shoes for men they have over there. I have some boots and hiker boots, but not sure if that would go over well there. Seems to be a bit heavy and hot – I would think.
Wondering if Oh Love has nice Men’s shoes as one of your readers suggested. Do people walk around in sandles there during the rain? I would think a rubberized type sandal would be okay?
Regardless, good luck with your shoe hunt!
Bill
Feyma
Hi Bill – I don’t think you need to bring your hiking boots here. Too hot to be walking around on that. Tennis shoes & flip flops are more comfortable to wear in any place here in the Philippines.
*** I would think a rubberized type sandal would be okay? *** — For sure sandal is good here.
Thank you for your comment. Nice to see you stopping here on LIP.
Have a great day!
Bill
Thank you for your suggestion! I’ll bring tennis shoes, sandals and flip flops!
Now I’ll get out of the women’s section of the store! haha
Thanks!

Keene has some quality sandals that are good for the weather here. Very comfortable, has microbacterial protection and you can walk in water with them. I have 2 pair. They cost around $100, but you can get cheaper on sale. You should order them before you come.
Bill
Papaduck,
Love the name by the way! Nice! Thank you for your suggestion! Matter of fact, I WILL do just that!
Sounds great – thanks!

Buy at Nordstrom.com I buy most my shoes there! I love shoes !!!
Feyma
Hi Cheryll – I was just browsing at there site a few days ago. I saw some sandals that I like from there. You’ll never know I might get from them. I bought almost all my shoes from there (Nordstrom) when we used to live in the States. It’s expensive but it’s worth it, since I don’t buy too many shoes. LOL
I know you love shoes. :-)… I saw it on your FB wall. Man you got an expensive shoes there. Ha ha ha..
Good to see you here. Thank you for your input. Highly appreciated.
Take care!
Cheryll Ann

The first time i took my wife to Nordstrom in San Francisco, we came off the elevator into the shoe section, and you could almost hear the music playing in her mind. I told her “and they are ALL in your size”
She didn’t believe me. I took her over, and said “pick five pairs”
After they brought her size and width, i turned her loose for a couple hours. She was as happy as a kid in a candy store!
Yep, we used Nordstrom.com here, but found that certain brands, like Asics, don’t allow their products to be shipped to the Philippines. The stores here very seldom have running shoes in her size, though the shoes themselves are great.
I thought about opening two shoe stores.
1. One called “Shoes Men LIKE” – Self explanatory. I’m a good buyer for that store haha.
2. One called “BigFOOT” for women that have needs for larger shoes. Not that I’m saying that some women have big feet, but it seems like all running shoes here are like size 6.
Just sayin.
Cheryll Ann
Have them sioped to a US address, I forgot the name of the company they give yiu po box and the stores shio there and they shipnit here to PH for you. They do air or sea.
Bought a camera and from amazon and it was here in like 6 days, shipping was only like almost 2k and considering the camera was in 40k range I thought it was fair shipping and the shipping was inclusive of import taxes. Dunno what they would charge for shoes.
As all my shoes are shipped to a US address and shipped to me via bb box. Very useful to have siblings studying at UCLA, University of Santa Clara, and Notre Dame, lol!
Feyma
Hi Rick Lowe – Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Hmmm, opening shoe store here in the PI? Think it a million times.
Good to see you here and thank you so much for stopping by!

Bob how true this is I finally bought a new pair 11 to fit me in Cagayan de Oro
Lou
I would like to comment on Aerosoles. I have bought a couple of those and they are very comfortable. Just like Naturalizer, just like you I love Naturalizer.
It is a problem getting bigger size shoes in the Philippines. One of my nephews is size 12 and SM does not carry a lot of them. I just totally lost my patience when I went shopping with them as there are not too many to choose from. So we have to buy his shoes here in the US.
On women, if you are size 10 that is really hard to find there. My sister used to buy my niece men’s shoes because she couldn’t find her size. Of course now we have to buy it here.
I think you are better off ordering your shoes in the US because the leather is of better quality and the craftmanship lasts longer.
Feyma
Hi Lou – Good to know. I just went to Manila and went shopping with a friend. I saw lots of shoe stores there and amazingly they had the size for my kids. Philippines is getting better on good imported products now. I’ve been seeing lots of good imported brands now. Just have to have big wallet though. 🙂
But thank you so much though for the nice info. So happy to see you here.
Have a wonderful day!

Maria had similar issues as you with finding good shoes at a good price that did not make her feet hurt.
I do a LOT of walking and thus if Maria is to join me she needs good shoes.
So what did we do? She bought what she thought was fashionable enough and comfortable. But what I have found over the years is it’s the insole that makes the difference. I bought her inserts for the shoes called Superfeet. They can be shifted from shoe to shoe and she now likes to walk as much as I do. I have been using is brand of insert for years at work and for civilian wear. My knees and back are thankful as much as my feet. Proper body alignment starts at the foot.
I also splurged and bought her a pair of the Superfeet branded sandals. A bit pricy, but here again, after the cost is paid the comfort is enjoyed. ….and my life is much better as well since I don’t have to listen to the complaints of sore feet! LOL.
As my father told me many years ago. Don’t go cheap with your feet. It will cost you in the end.
Happy shoe hunting.
Cheryll Ann
Oh I just remembered you have to try Trippen it’s a very comfy german brand. Have on,y been able to buy it in Hk and it’s very stylish and not ugly at all.
I don’t like Naturalizer btw. Try Pikolinos from Spain. Uber fab and comfy.
Feyma
I will check that brand out. Are Trippen & Pikolinos more money than Naturalizer? Have you heard of Aerosole?
Thank you again for the good info. Highly appreciated.
Have a great weekend!
Cheryll Ann
Yep more $$$$, Aerosoles are ok I like them better than Naturalizer! My new shoes just arrived Fly London and Gabor. I’ll let you know how they are! Fit Flops are honestly the most comfy but they don’t look too pretty!
