I have always been a big fan of Isla Parilla Resort in Alabel, Sarangani Province. For those who don’t know where Alabel is, it is just about 15 minutes drive from General Santos City.
I first started going to Isla Parilla back in 2000 when we moved to the Philippines and lived in General Santos City. Back in those days, it was really not much more than a barbecue restaurant, but oh how it has grown!
Isla Parilla is an Island in the middle of a lake. On the island you will find eating places, fishing, boating, a swimming pool, just a wonderful place to relax and get away from the hassles of life. Whenever I want to escape for a day or two, Isla Parilla is always the place that comes to mind.
You can stay at Isla Parilla for as low as P1,300 per night for your room. It’s a real bargain! If you go, tell them that “Mindanao Bob” sent you!

Hi Ron W – I’m glad you liked the place. Isla Parilla has been one of my favorite get-aways for years now. The people there are great, the facilities are fantastic, and the price can’t be beaten either.

Bob
Hi John in Austria – I'll keep providing more videos! We'll get you down south sooner or later!
Hi Danny – No bass there, and honestly most of the fish in the lake are quite small. An afternoon of fishing can still be fun though!
John Miele
Hi Bob: i have to return to Gensan in a few weeks, so i may give this a try. Could be worth scheduling business on a Friday and having the weekend to fool around there. Last trip stayed at East Asia Hotel, which was "OK", but nothing special, so this might make a business trip a little nicer since it is only 15 minutes from town.
Klaus
Hi Bob – what a mouth watering video. For sure: if i find time I will go there and tell that you recommend it. But before this: I still "owe you time" for a coffee or two". don't worry, It's not forgotten. I hope we can do it next week. keep in touch by text nalang… Regards to Feyma. 😆
Bob
Hi John Miele – I highly recommend the place! I am sure that you would enjoy a weekend there!

Not been to Gen San yet but will do soon and great to have a recommendation of where to stay, the place looks spot on, like you say relaxed, peaceful and good value, a great combination, even John at the end of the video, looked nice and calm (joke John)
Thanks Bob
Bob
Hi Rick B – If you happen to stay there, be sure to let me know what you think of the place, I'd be interested to hear your evaluation. Yeah, I think that the stay at Isla Parilla calmed John down a bit! He is pretty high strung, you know! 😆
Ed Griffin
Bob, I didn't get this video even though I have gotten all the rest. All I got was a red x. What can I do to see it?
Thanks, Ed
Bob
Hi Ed – Hmm… that's very strange! I don't know why it would not be showing up for you. Perhaps you could see it if you go watch directly on YouTube, on my Mindanao Bob Channel. Just click the link, and it goes directly to the video.

Bob
Very nice, the place seems very layed back.
How about the Mozito situation there as is is surrounded by water, do you have Mozito nets to sleep under?
Bob
Hi Neal in RI – I have been there many times, and as I think about it, I don't recall ever being bothered by mosquitoes. They don't have mosquito nets either, but I don't think they need them, because I just don't recall ever having a need.
Phil R.
hey Bob think they would let me fly fish there too … sounds like fun ..hummmmm looks like i might have to stay a week down there to see all the sights …
Phil R.
ohh it's a great video too … 😆
Bob
Hi Phil R. – Hey, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video! I am quite sure that they wouldn't mind you fly fishing there! I have often wondered how the fly fishing would be on some of the streams around Mindanao. I feel certain that you'd be the first fly fisherman to hit the spot! 😆
Phil R.
thanks to hear that Bob … 🙂 …Phil R.
