There are street food vendors all over the Philippines. Most of them have like a stand along the sidewalk, or something like that.
What do you think about this one? It is a street food tricycle! They used a tricycle so they can easily get to and from their house to the place they sell at.
Maybe this is related to the “food trucks” that are popular in the USA now? I bet this “food tricycle” pre-dates the food trucks that you guys in the States might see daily! I don’t know, are there food trucks in other countries as well? I would imagine that there are.
Did you notice on this food tricycle they have a sort of table on it with condiments? I can see soy sauce, salt and other condiments that a “diner” might use to spice up his food! What do you think of street food? Do you eat it when you are in the Philippines?

For sure I do Bob just about daily for a snack maybe lunch and of Corse around 5pm when the Barbeques start up , Dumoy / Troil area has very good street foods, How about you do you eat the street food of Matina ?
Bob Martin
Sure – Matina or wherever I might be around Davao!
David E Desorcy
Yes, I eat whatever smells or looks attractive to me. I try not to think about food poisoning. Although I never had it from street food.
MindanaoBob
Same here, David – I’ve never been sick from street food.
David Desorcy
I eat anything that smells good. I never have been sick from street food.
Bob Martin
Nor have I.. thankfully.

There are food trucks now in the metro Manila area… I’ve seen a couple that rival anything in the USA …
Bob Martin
Yes, I am aware of those, but there are none here where I live… yet.
Will Moore
Patience…..patience…good things come to those who are patient…
Would there be a market there … In the USA they are an event…

I love me some street food! Only thing I shy away from is balut and intestines. Other than that if I have not had it I will try it!
MindanaoBob
Sounds like we have similar tastes, Scott!

Because of what I see at the open markets, I don’t trust the food to be safe, but then I don’t really trust the food at some grocery stores either. I just don’t think about it.
Bob Martin
Ha ha… interesting, Bill. I do eat some type of food from the public market, especially fish.
Bill Malloy
If I didn’t see all the flies and so forth on it, I’d probably be able to eat it. LOL
Derek
Hi Bob, i think you have to try anything once my Filipino friends are always trying to
Get me to eat balut, up till now I have resisted the temptation ? , they say it’s good for you, I’d probably be sick eating one I’ve tried most street food but balut, if I drink a few
Beers I might have a go at eating one one day, Derek in pasig.
MindanaoBob
So far I have avoided balut too, Derek! I think I will keep doing so!

Bob I think street food is the same as the lunch wagons ( or roach coaches ) over here in the States, only better. When we visit, street food is always on the menu. Intestines, or Isaw is one of my favorites when we go to the Palengke, along with Palamig to drink. I haven’t tried Balut yet however I’m sure I will eventually. When I found out that Balut is bad for people with high blood that became my excuse for not eating it! But I think on our visit last year my wife blew the whistle on me about my phony high blood excuse, so the day may be near that I have try it! What I really enjoy is out in her town in the province on the main street is a little stand with fish balls, kwek kwek and kikiam. It’s great to sit there munching away and watching all of the tricycles zipping around and everyone going about their daily business.
MindanaoBob
HI Steve – Hmm.. you have me curious.. I have never heard of “palamig” before… what is that?
