We’ve been living in our neighborhood for almost 3 years now. We really like our neighborhood and our surroundings. It’s really new that during night time its so quiet and peaceful. We hardly hear any blowing of car horn and tricycles. We really like it here a lot. It also is convenient for our kids to go to school, just a walking distance. When we first moved in here, right across the street living was the classmate of my youngest son Jared. They lived in the neighborhood for a long time. But just few months after we moved in they are moving out. They moved in to our old neighborhood to be near to their business. They lived there just across the street where we used to live.
The place that they left behind on our new neighborhood had been empty for a long time, until early this year. In that lot it sits 4 houses with I think one bedroom, bathroom and kitchen in every house. Really its like a compound. So I guess the new renter rented the whole compound and he rented out each houses individually. And one of the houses was rented to the workers of S & R wholesale store ( sister company of Costco in the States). These workers were kind of rude and rowdy. Well what do we expect with the drunkards people. They just don’t have the instinct to think that they have to be quiet during middle of the night. They’ve been loud almost every night. We are so looking forward when the S & R will be done and open. Hopefully these workers will be out of our neighborhood in no time. Just by listening to these workers they are not from here locally. I think they are from Luzon. I don’t think they will stay here for a long time. I think they just work here by contract term.
One thing they used to do was hanging out on our front yard sitting on the concrete near the gate. We don’t really like it because sometimes they left their garbage there. So just to avoid confrontation I put my thorny plants there for them to know not to sit there. Once in awhile I saw them sitting on some part of the yard. I will have to plant some more thorny plants again to occupy the whole concrete in our front yard.
When they first arrived on that house, boy they were so loud. They always had karaoke and drinking almost every night. Few weeks after them moving in I noticed that they were not so loud anymore and they are not staying that much outside. I had a feeling that they were told by our other neighbor to be quiet. See the house just across from us the owner, he is a lawyer. I’m not sure if those new neighbors were told to tone down a bit because here in Davao you could get in trouble with being noisy past the wee hour of the night. That was just my hunch since all of a sudden the karaoke was stopped. If they were told by our other neighbor, I’m so happy for that. Really I think they know that our other neighbor just don’t put up with their BS. Most of our neighbors here were lawyers and judge. I’m just glad that I don’t have to tell these annoying neighbor what I think. Somebody already told them what we think of them.
How’s your neighbor? Feel free to share your experience with your neighbor!

Hello Feyma ,these workers they are the construction crew building the new S&R. This kind of workers are what I have seem here also.they always have drinking after work.
Feyma
Hi Ralph – Unfortunately the typical construction workers drinking after work. I mean I am not against drinking but drink moderately that other people will not be disturb. Oh well, I would really be so happy when S& R be open and these people will be out in our street.
Always good to see you here Ralph. Hello to Norma from me. Take care!
Gary
My wife Meriam likes to use the thorny plants too. 🙂
Once in a great while someone will have a party and get loud but it doesn’t happen very often.
Yesterday we got our first begger of season. Singing Christmas songs. She had a very loud voice and didn’t know the words very well. Is this month “MAYBER?” 😀
Feyma
Hi Gary – Thorny plants were the best revenge. 🙂 LOL…
Oh really? A Christmas carolers this time of year in your area? Wow, that’s too early. Been living here for a long time but never seen yet of this early carolers though. I thought late August was early for me, but you had a record there for the earliest. Ha ha ha…
Have a great day!

I had a Korean neighbour who was always fighting with his girlfriend. One night it got really violent so I went over and asked the girl if she would like to come to our house until her partner calmed down. He promptly informed me that he had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and if I didn’t leave he would beat me up. The girl wanted to come with me so he attacked me. What he didn’t know was that I have been training in Kyokushinkai Karate for over 25 years. He learnt a lesson that day. Fortunately the girl has returned to her province and he has gone somewhere else.
Feyma
Hi Murray – I’m glad that you helped out the girl. Good for you that you gave that guy a lesson. That attitude of his being so arrogant will lead him to trouble living here.
I’ve heard too many stories about them being so loud and rude. Until we did live next door to one of them on our old neighborhood. They were really loud. In the middle of the night fighting and running around with their underwear. Husband locking out the wife outside. During rainy night even 2 in the morning they would be running around in the rain and so loud. I think if I remember they were banned to some places here in the city.
Thank you so much for stopping by here. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Feyma – Thorny plants would send the message for sure, especially if they sat on them. Our neighbours are brilliant, we are fortunate. How ever we have about 15 little dogs surrounding our house which bark alot, but we are used to the noise now. They are really a benefit as they are a good alarm system. About a month ago a neighbour at the back bought a rooster, but we don’t hear it anymore, maybe they ate it.

Hi Feyma
It is very quiet here in our gated subdivision. When we rented in a non gated community in Baguio City it was always noisy, even at 03:00. It would be hard to go back to a non gated community.
Enjoyed the article

Dear Mrs Feyma,
May be you Neighbors Lawyers adviced the construction workers about and regarding
the rules and laws of Nuisance, a person, thing or circumstances causing inconvenience
or annoyance to others. sometimes people dont know what is right and wrong, especially typical filipinos, they just want is to have fun and express their freedom of
emotion to entertained themselves to prevent boredomeness and to forget their problems for a while and you have a good moved not to make a confrontation from them. have a nice day.
PapaDuck
Mrs Feyma,
I just think its a sign of the times everywhere. It used to be people had more respect for there neighbors. Not anywhere. Take care
Jay
Hi Feyma,
Interesting post. I love to sing karaoke! I don’t sing late at night unless it is New Years Eve. Late for me now is 9 or 10 pm. If I was 23 instead of 48 and working construction all day with a bunch of my peers I might be one of the people you are talking about.
What I found interesting is that you never mentioned actually talking to the young men about your concerns. I realize talking to them we they were drunk might be dangerous, but maybe right after they came home from work. My Filipina wife and her friends are the same way. She had a friend who liked to lie. She exaggerated how much money her husband made. He did make a lot, but she would say he made a million dollars a month when he probably made $200,000, or $300,000 a year. Worse she would say she was coming to parties and would not show up. A lot of our parties each person is suppose to bring something and if they don’t show up the thing isn’t there.
My wife and her Filipina friends never confronted her. I would have talked to her, but óne time I said I was going to call her and she said not to. Honestly it was not as big an issue with me as her so I just let it go. They just decided to stop inviting her to things until eventually the girl got another group of friends. I guess I would like for my wife to be more assertive, but I don’t think it will ever happen.

Hi, I would like to ask someone of their opinions, I have a house been build in Nueva Ecija, they are now adding a porch which is about 12 X10. My question is my expenses. The labor would be 35,000.00 pesos and my materials is around 50k pesos. No enclosure, just the roof and floors. Is this is fair amount?
John Reyes
Beth, your most reliable and accurate source of information for your inquiry is the captain of the barangay in which your house is located. He is more familiar with the prevailing labor rate and the cost of materials in your locality than anyone in the internet.

Hi Feyma,
We have a neighbor who is really green with a big head. His eyes are squinty and almost black I even think he have no eyeballs! Just plain black and very very dark. I always got scared when I meet him on the streets. Sometimes, I catched him watching our house, just standing there across the street and staring at our house. Once I left my camcorder on the window near the patio where this guy always stands and I recorded him. I was surprised when I saw him standing there then suddenly there’s a mulitiple colored light hovering above him and then he vanished! The next day I was awakened by a knock on our door by a woman asking where the heck is the fellow across the street. It seems the lady was the house owner and this guy who just vanished owe her the rent for the month. I told her my story and she just laughed at me. One sure thing, I saw a tail on this lady when she turned around. I guess there are ALIENS living in our neighborhood.
