Today is a big, big day for LiP. A milestone has been achieved on the site!
LiP is about 5 1/2 years old now. LiP started out as a small site, but it grew quite rapidly. The first 6 months saw little traffic on the site, not many visitors and not much group participation on the site.
After about 6 or 7 months, I convinced Feyma to write on the site as well. Within about 2 more months, I brought on 2 or 3 other writers, and that has continued over the past 4 years or so. Today, I feel that we have a very strong group of writers here on the Live in the Philippines Web Magazine.
What is the milestone?
So, what is the big milestone on LiP? We have just hit a mark that few websites hit. As of a few minutes ago, Live in the Philippines got it’s 100,000th comment! Yes, there are now more than 100k comments on this site! Few websites even achieve this goal, and I am quite proud of it.
But, this is not an achievement of mine alone. This is a big achievement for every writer on LiP, and also for the LiP family. Every person who has left a comment here has a hand in this achievement. I want to thank every one of you for your contribution to LiP, and making it the number one website about Living in the Philippines. That position cannot be challenged, even just based on community participation on the site! LiP was one of the original websites on this topic niche, and it is my goal to continue to hold the very top spot in that niche.
With the continued help of the great community here, there is no doubt that goal will continue to be a reality!
Congratulations, everybody, on hitting the big 100K in the number of comments!
Congrats to Bob and all the others who have posted on LIP. Many interesting discussions and i have learned a lot of useful information. Now, if I only could meet one or more of you in Phil’s….. I always feel very isolated here.
Thank you Mike! Although it is your first day to participate here, you picked a milestone day to comment! 😆
Bob,
I also want to congradulate you and all the LIP writers and and people who contribute to LIP. You have been a moving force in my decision to move to the Philippines. You have clarified and made solid suggestions on how to get ready for the move, make the move and what to expect when we get there. You and your writers give us the total view of life in the Philippines even those facts that may strike a nerve. But a true percepsion of life there through your eyes and the eyes of the Philippine goverment. You and all the LIP family are truley a God send for me knowing I’m not alone in my quest to live in Paridise. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, Bruce. I am happy if the site has been helpful to you and others!
Great work,Bob and everyone else. Not to be nit-picky, but being this is a Philippines-oriented blog, shouldn’t that be Major Major Thanks? ha ha ha
Ha ha… I love it, Dave! Good one.
Thank you so much for your support, and of course for the time you spent writing here on LiP too!
Hi Bob, Congrats on all your effeorts to make LIP the success that it has become. Although I’m not always on the same wavelength with all writers and contributors, I applaud all writers and contributors who help you make the site one that is enjoyable and informative for many. I feel that we all share a common passion for the Philippines, and a drive to understand our place with it or in it.
Best of luck with your site in the future Bob, and I hope that the site continues to grow and evolve with the input and insights of many. Queenie
Thank you queeniebee. It’s not a problem if people have differing viewpoints, in fact if all people had the same view, it would be boring. The key is if people of differing views can disagree in an agreeable way! 😉
🙂 Nicely said Queenie!
Thanks Roy. Miss your interesting comments..
This has always been my favorite site ( out of many ) about The Philippines and where I have shared the most about my adventures in visiting. With such a variety of articles and writers here on ” LIP ” it has tipped me off in advance of my visits of things to look for and try, as I have reported back on some of them here. Those kind of things have really enhanced my experiences. From Haircuts to Halo-Halo and lots more, it’s all here on “LIP”.
I certainly agree this website deserves the Top Spot along with all who have contributed to its success since it began. Thanks everyone and especially you Mindanao Bob .
Thank you so much, Bob. Your comment is very nice, and also I thank you for your contribution to LiP over the past years! Both in articles that you have submitted, and also your comments here!
Hi Bob and the LIP Family.
Congratulations. Quite a milestone for you and hope is does not take as long to double the number.
I have a few articles to catch up on – not at home at the moment and having to use someone else laptop.
Looking forward to more interesting reading.
All the Best
Thank you very much, Marjorie!
Hey Bob, Congratulations! 🙂 You going to treat us all with a Cheeseburger meal? Ha ha.. I’m kidding! 😉 So who’s the person who left the the 100,000th? just curious he he.. I think it’s cool!
I haven’t told you yet I think of how I learned of this site… I’ll share one of these you’ll surely laugh.. Congrats again to you and to your writers!
Thank you sugar! I appreciate your contribution to the site as well!
Who left comment #100,000? I did! Ha ha.
I’ll be looking forward to that article about what you learned from this site! 😉
Bob;
From the “Field Of Dreams” If you build it, they will come! I found your site a few years ago and have enjoyed it every day! Next 200,000!
So true, Paul! Why didn’t I think of that? 😉
A big congratulations to you my dear husband. I know how much you worked hard to make the website a successful one.
A million thanks to all the writers here. Greatly appreciated.
Big thank you to all our LIP FAMILY. The website meant nothing without you guys comments. So congratulations everyone!!!
MABUHAY LIP MAGAZINE!!!
Thanks, hon, for your support!
Hi Bob,
You can take a lot of pride in that achievement. I wonder, out of the millions of web sites out there, how many ever make it to that level of success? Very few, would be my guess.
Jack
I am not sure on that either, Jack, but I don’t think many websites reach that level. Of course, the big commercial sites do, but a small site run by a private individual like this one… well, I think it is rare!
Thank you for your support of the site, Jack!
Congratulation for the milestone, Bob. You website helped a lot of people from other parts of the world through this website….and also to other Filipinos who haven’t been to Mindanao. Maybe they will be enlightened and start traveling within their own country and have something positive to say about other Islands within the Philippines. Thanks to all the writers also.
Mars
Thank you so much, Mars, for your kind comment, and also your contribution to this site! It is greatly appreciated!
WOW Congratulations Bob to you Sir & the LiP family there!! What ever your wrighting about on the site….good, bad, indifferent haha there is always somthing for everyone to take away in experiencing life there throughout Philippines Bob. For this guy wanting to become the next expat, you enlighten my hopes and my future plans. Thankyou once again standing round of applause!
Cheers Glen
Thank you very much, Glen. If you have gained some benefit from the writings here, that makes me very happy!
Good luck on your quest to become an expat in the Philippines!
Good job, dude…(Robert Man)..The one thing that hits me here on this site…. is ..it is very personalized and has a community (Close friends) feeling… Take care…
Hi Lenny – That “community feel” is exactly what I aim for! I’m glad it’s coming through! Thanks for participating on the site over the years!
Hi Bob – i remember when the site started and we were preparing then to get ready to move to Mindanao how valuable the site was with regards to living permanently in the Philippines. The information nowadays has diversified from mainly about Mindanao to encompass all aspects of live in the Philippines and very informative it still remains.
I must confess I prefered your former site format but thats only my personal opinion. Long may the site continue to give valuable information and updates on life here in the Philippines.
Well done to everyone concerned and long may it continue.
Best wishes.
Jim & Marilou.
Thank you Jim, I’m very happy that you were able to gather helpful information from the site! I thank you for your support of the site, articles and comments, over the years.
Site formats come and go, so you never know what it will be like in the future. I have tended to mix-up the format a bit about once per year over the history of the site. It keeps people on their toes a bit! 😆
Hey Bob,
Congrats! I’ve always enjoyed this site. Next stop…1,000,000!!!
Thank you Hudson! I am very happy that you, and so many others, enjoy the website!
Hmm… 1 Million? We’ll have to see if I can live that long! 😆
Congrats Bob!!!!
Truly a great site!
Thank you very much, Greg! And thanks for contributing to making the site what it is!
Hi Bob..congratulations on achieving the 100,000, it is indeed a excellent website and although i am not living permantly in phil as yet,but hopefully within the next 6 months, the comments and information i have got from this website has helped me so much especially from the people and writers on this website that live in the philippines, they have directed me in the right way on a lot of issues that i would not of thought of living in the philippines, Thanks to you Bob, Feyma and all the writers for a great website now and in the future..Mel
Thank you so much, Mel. It really makes me feel great to know that you have found help from this site and the people on the site!
Good luck on your move to the Philippines!

Thank you very much, Pete! I’m glad you have found the site useful!
Hi Bob,Congratulation Excellent Job!!!
Thank you very much, Linda!
Hi Bob,
Where’s the ” Party Party” tell me so i can direct my broomstick where to go!
Congratulations… to you and all the writers…
Ha ha… sorry, I didn’t have a party planned! Thanks for your nice comment, though.
Bob, Congratulations on your accomplishment.
Hey It must be something BIG because I noticed Linda even commented and she is not a big internet/computer junkie. I have been spreading the word here and I think my Nephew is hip to your site as well.
Thanks Neal, for your comment and for spreading the word! I appreciate both! 😆
Congratulations Bob what a excellent job.
Thanks!
congrats Bob
Thank you very much, Dan!
Congratulations Bob, Feyma & all the contributors of LIP!!! More power and keep up the good work! Give yourself a big pat on the back! 🙂
Willy&Emee
Thank you Willy & Emee! I really appreciate it!
Congratulations to Bob, the writers and the fellow LIP community! This site has been most valuable! Even though, I have not made the plunge to live there (yet), it is quite helpful with my visits there. Presently, I’m visiting and staying in Dasmarinas Cavite. Going to Subic this weekend and onto Mindanao next month. If not for this site, I would be afraid of all of Mindanao. Thanks, again!
You are very, very welcome, Ed! And, I also thank you for your contribution to this site over the years! It’s been a good run here, and it is because of people like you that LiP has been special!
Congratulations Bob and thank you for the site.
Thank you very much, big p, and thanks for your participation on the site!
Bob,
Well deserved kudos on the monumental acheivement. I think the diversity of writers and topics is the key to your site. Keeps it really fresh. Theres just so much info you can acquire from this site. From writers and contributors alike. Looking forward to your next milestone which will come faster. Be safe.
Thank you very much, PapaDuck! With the help of the LiP Family, we will reach many more milestones, I’m sure of that!
I’ve been writing a blog for the past two months about my pending visit to the Philippines . . . and I’ve had 3 comments! I have always appreciated your website because of the amount of interaction you have with your readers. It’s something every blogger/writer strives for. Congratulations on 100,000.
Hi ScottB – Thank you very much. Interaction, to me, is the thing that makes this site what it is, and without the community interaction, I would not be happy with the site. I really appreciate the readers and community of this site! Thank you!
And a belated congratulations on your milestone from me, too. I don’t get by the house here in Reno with any great regularity. I drive a truck OTR, without internet. Just biding my time (and enjoying it) until Dear Family Accountant says it’s time to retire. Your website is keeping the pressure off of her from me, though. One might say that LiP, YouTube and ABS-CBN are already enabling me to be living there. You and Feyma have created something very special and important here. Here’s to continued amassing of milestones.
Thank you Mike. I am really happy that you like the site and feel it is special, and helpful in helping you make it to your goal!
