As you surely read in my column a couple of weeks ago, I recently went on a Mindanao tour with John Grant and Migs Bassig.
We traveled from Davao to Cotabato City, then to Parang, through Lanao del Sur, and to the Zamboanga Peninsula.ย After visiting all three Zamboanga Provinces, we also visited Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon and back to Davao.
It was really an enjoyable trip!ย I hope that John and Migs enjoyed it as much as I did too!
Take a few minutes to watch the video of the highlights of the trip!

Bob
Hi rick b – If you are interested in such travel, why don't we take a trip together sometime? I'd enjoy it, and if you are up for it, let's do it!
Phil R.
Sounds like ya'll had fun .I guess i will have to try it someday too…Phil R.
Bob
Hi Phil R. – It indeed was a great trip! I encourage you to give such a trip a try!
Anton
Hi Bob , i saw the video , but there was 2 people speaking at the same time.
can not understand most of it.
Allso when the video ended after 8.47 minutes
the comments went on .
what i hear amongst was iligan , but not see that.
Enjoy , Anton
Bob
Hi Anton – You must have had more than one thing playing audio on your pc at the same time, because there is no such "double talking" on the video. I've watched it a number of times, and there simply is no such thing. Sorry, but no Iligan video is included on the video either. The video shows us on the ferry in Ozamiz toward the end, then the next scene is me at my house in Davao. Yes, it is under 9 minutes total.

Hi Bob , the video starts with somebody telling where you are going and
after 10 seconds you can hear your voice .
Allso during the video the 2 comments speak about the same places or things.
But i understood what it was about.
Anton
Hi Bob ,once again i played your video and the 4th time it was perfect.
Migs
Hi Bob, thanks for sharing the wonderful video! I remember that we did go straight towards the Rotunda on the way to Ozamiz. And how impressive your Bisaya was! I couldn't even talk to the Abaca Rope Man. Wow, the memories just keep coming back.
Cheers and thanks again! ๐

Joe Parisi
Bob,
You mentioned that is rained for most of your trip. Is the middle of May typically rainy in Southern Mindinao?
Jim Hannah
Hi Bob,
Looks like a great trip you had there. I have wanted to undertake a trip like this during our visits to Davao but my Davaoena wife does her utmost to disuade me, her fears being manyfold greater than mine. Now you have done it and lived to tell the tale, I won't be disuaded again. Perhaps when we are next there in 2010, we could organise some kind of group trip together. That would be great.
Thanks for the video.
Jim
Bob
Hey Ron Wadsworth – I just watched that Video of the Lobstering in Vinalhaven, ME. Very good! I enjoyed it. Felt like I was watching "Lobster Wars" on Discovery Channel! Great work, thanks for sharing it!
Hi Anton – I'm glad that it finally played properly for you. It's weird, because I have watched the video many times and never gotten that problem that you described.
Bob
Hi Migs – Thanks for the compliment on the Bisaya! I did my best, and was glad that it helped out from time to time! ๐
Hi Jim Cunningham – Glad you enjoyed the video! ๐
Bob
Hi sonita – Thanks for dropping by and commenting! I did enjoy visiting Zamboanga Sibugay. It was my first time to visit that Province. I had been to Zamboanga City previously, but never to the Provinces of Zamboanga Peninsula.
Hi Joe Parisi – No, not typically. There were a couple of freak storms that passed through a little earlier than normal this year, and that is why the weather was so bad!
Bob
Hi Jim Hannah – Absolutely! If you want to do something like this, let's arrange it on your next visit. For me, this was just a sort of medium sized trip, I have done some previous trips around Mindanao that were much more than this one. My favorite trip that I've ever done in Mindanao is in February 2007 when I flew from Davao to Zamboanga City, then I flew down to Tawi Tawi (a group of 107 Islands that are right on the doorstep of Malaysia – the furthest south that you can go in the Philippines). I spent a few days in Tawi Tawi, then I went to Basilan for a day, finally back to Zamboanga City, and back to Davao. It was a real adventure, and a trip that few foreigners have ever duplicated.

Bob
Hi Rick – No problem! I certainly understand your situation, and you need to be around for your fatherly duties at this time! We'll do a trip soon enough…. it will be something to look forward to! ๐
bariles
Hi Bob! Enjoyed your travelogue video. Except for zamboanga sibugay, I have been to all those places you have visited too. They're really peaceful areas.
Part of my wishlist to go to up the mountains of Sultan Kudarat, passing through the highways of Bagumbayan until I reach Lebak. I was there in the early 80s when I used to work in sales for Procter & Gamble and until now, I couldn't how beautiful the place was.
And yes, you might us well join me there…hehehe! ๐
Thanks Bob!
Bob
Hi bariles – Thanks, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. I have also toured Sultan Kudarat a pretty fair amount, but have yet to go to Bagumbayan, although it's a place that I have wanted to go. Some people there have been sending me some information about the place and inviting me to go… one day, I might just do it!
