Did you ever have a time when something that is a sort of important fact went unnoticed, and then it just hit you? That just happened to me! I just realized something that I had not thought about before, and it is something kind of important too.
In my life, I have moved around a lot. I have lived in a lot of different locations around the USA, and the world. For the past 9 years I have lived in the Philippines.
What I just realized is that I have lived in Davao for longer than I have lived in any other place in my life! I guess that makes me a real Davaoenyo.
Let’s have a look:
I was born in Port Townsend, Washington, and I lived there for 2 years.
Next, we lived in Los Angeles, California for 2 years.
After living in LA, we lived in South Africa for the next 2 years of my life.
Upon returning to the USA, we lived in Clatskanie, Oregon for 5 years.
We next returned to living in Los Angeles for about 3 1/2 years.
After leaving Los Angeles, we lived in Franklinton, Louisiana for 3 years.
I next lived in Bozeman, Montana for 1 year.
Next, I lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for 2 years.
Next, Angie, Louisiana for 1 year.
Next, Walker, Louisiana for 2 years.
Next, Clark County, Washington for 2 years.
Vancouver, Washington for 2 years.
Back to an unincorporated area of Clark County, Washington for 2 years.
Ridgefield, Washington for 7 years.
General Santos City, Philippines for 2 years.
Finally to Davao City, Philippines for 7 years.
Whew! That’s a lot of moving.
I knew that I was getting close to having lived in Davao as long as anywhere else I have lived in my life, but didn’t realize until just a while ago that I have already reached that milestone!

Morning Bob,
I too have moved around a bit although always withing Australia and always withing the the same state. I never thought I would move as much as I have. I get content with a place but then something changes that and I desire to move on – even if it is not a great distance away. I have had about nine moves although some of these have been simply between houses in the one locality. I have learnt that possessions = stress. The less you have the better because it is less to move.

And now you are finally home, Bob! 🙂

Kamusta ka Bob,
Throw your suit cases away Bob, you won't need them anymore..lol. Congratulations Bob on making a great decision to move there, I will have to live there for 21 years to beat the longest place I have ever stayed…and I hope to do just that!!
Take care now,
Danny 🙂

Hey Bob,
Can't believe that you have lived in so many places. Your parents must have had a real interesting job. Have you made many friends in these places and have you stayed in touch with any of them?
I was looking at the map at the top of the page and wondered about the little Island of Jolo and the town. Would this be one the places that I have read about that wouldn't be too safe to go? Have you ever been there or would like to go?
Thanks, Dale

Thanks for the map Bob. I wish that I could google more places that I read about in the Philippines.
I could be wrong, but I hear the same sounding name for different areas, or there is a name before or after this area which is a different area entirely, I believe.
In other words is there a way to see the name of a place and find it on a Map?
Thanks,
Ed

Yes I too have moved alot in my lifetime.
My Dad used to keep my address and phone number in pencil as I changed it so often.
The service was the reason for some of my moves. But I fixed up a place and then lived in it awhile and then sold it and moved on to somewhere else.
I must say though I have lived in my present home 12 years…..gosh what a surprise… my dad could have finally put my phone number and address in his book in ink!!!!!!

Hello Bob, I can't say I have lived in as many places as you but through my school years you just made me count. That was 6 moves and six schools. Did you remember with your moves having to say goodbye to you best friend. Actually I hated all the moves then. Remember being Marble super star at 9 years old and moved to next place and that school and kids did not even know what they were. So I had to find new use. Sling shot and birds. hehe I am so sorry I did not just keep them. But the property I just sold is where I used them and every year for years I till and find some. My kids did not ever have to move but once, at least after they started school. My promise to me. My move to the Phil's will be my first in over 25 years. Buyer yesterday offered to buy my garage. hehe two car garage you can't walk through. I just told him I was going to have yard sell. I am not so nervous about living in the Philippines and because I never even heard of the US State Dept. scare report on Mindandao, that part does not scare me. I am so excited about the move there, but scared I will miss all my stuff. Hum, 20 years in same house, I hope I make what you have and I know I will have stuff.hehe One of my kids will have to get rid of.

Nine years in the Philippines? Same here. Well, the first nine years of my life anyway. Looks like you're staying put in Mindanao.
